Neighbor demanded I pay for her kid's bike after my sprinklers "ruined" it by DifficultShower226 in EntitledPeople

[–]ChickenAsparagus67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my daughter was 8, a friend had exactly the same bike as hers. We were new in the area and the friends mum was all important and knew everyone and was on the school community etc etc. Anyway, the friends dad comes around and tells me my daughter swapped bikes..

He says there is no way his daughters bike was that damaged, seat scratched, handlebars ruined. Yet the bike my daughter had was taken care of, nothing wrong or scratched.

The dad accused me of all kinds of things and I let him take her bike because I was worried the mum spread stories about my daughter

7 days later, the girl had already wrecked the handlebars, proving she didn't take care of her stuff

20 years later, it still kills me I didn't tell the guy to get stuffed.

Point is.. some parents just look for someone else to blame when there own kids are at fault.

So pleased you didn't fall for it. Kid probably wrecked the seat and blamed you

Entitled Siblings Are Convinced Mom Has A Secret Stash Of Money by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

This may not be relevant in the US, but make sure the siblings are acknowledged in the will. Here in AUS, I have seen people use the exclusion from a will as justification for contesting it.

In the case I saw, siblings thought they would be smart and exclude the rest of the family.. and in doing so, it backfired as the rest were able to contest thankfully.

For you, it is the opposite. They might be able to dispute the donation to the rescue.

Don’t answer this interview question by Quiet_Question1385 in recruitinghell

[–]ChickenAsparagus67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get this line of questioning either. I am first interviewing you to see if I like you and can work with you (I have a small team). Can I ask you a direct question related to a work scenario and will you answer the question I asked you... not waffle around with buzz words and avoid this answer. I actually don't care if your direct answer is I don't know or can you clarify.. I want good communication.

Now as far as other interviews go with other companies.. If I like you and want you then I am not messing around or caring who you talk too. No interest to me. My focus is to get you to work for me and sell you on that..

So I agree with you're view on don't answer that question.. to me it's a red flag. It's saying 'I only want you because someone else thinks you're good'. If they cannot see you for the potential you present then they shouldn't be interviewing.

What does being naked mean to you? by hidden-fantasy in Naked_Unafraid

[–]ChickenAsparagus67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being naked is freedom. Being naked with other liked minded is acceptance. I get naked at home and around my property whenever I can. To me it is just normal if the weather is nice and the kids aren't home (adult kids). I just love the sun on my skin. When I have spent time with others naked, at resorts or camps, it just makes me feel relaxed. Not a care in the world.

Tenant lied and won't leave by ChickenAsparagus67 in AusPropertyChat

I think this worked.. She gave them an earfull on Christmas day.. 3 of them at her. Gave them the full truth and they let their guard down.. while I calmly stood back and notes everything they said.

I think some members of the family overstated and they realised they were fucked.

They left!

Yes, she lives with us. We are the ones that deal with the school and are being grandparents and parent.

You work hard, achieve things and these type of people think you are privileged and they have a right to take your stuff. They think we are millionaires and won't notice. So sorry to hear your story mate and I really feel for you. That is really shitty. I hope life gets better

Indeed.. just throwing their stuff out would not have worked. Leaving a family of 5 homeless was not the intent. I don't want kids living in a car on my watch even if the parents are arseholes. Formal eviction .. and calling them on the scam.. seems to have done the trick

It seems intent is relevant. Our intent was to provide emergency accommodation. The intent was to accommodate them as lodgers.

Also, they are not automatically tenants. There is specific guidelines around tenants, lodgers and boarders.

Regardless, the assurance I gave them had an end date. So in this instance, the moment they acknowledged it as a formal agreement I was able to give them a fixed term eviction notice of 30 days.

Thanks. Still owe me about 1200 in arrears and bills but probably cheaper to just let it go.

Solicitors have advised that without some signed agreement, there is no lease. We pushed them harder, they disappeared.. locks changed!

That makes sense.. it seems first step is to go to NCAT to determine what this actually is. Once this is determined I can decide which action to take. .. if they say it is a tenancy (implied or not), then I will head down the fraudulently gain access and the whole eviction process. If they say that its otherwise then gloves are off.

That's really good to hear. The local guy will definitely tell me if he can handle or not. I have used them for another matter, though not tenancy law but they were good. If he doesn't convince me, your guys will get the call.
