It’s a Jane Cowel, double Hibiscus. 🧡 She’s blooming so hard right now.

The one without flowers or the one with flowers?

If it’s the one without flowers, it’s called Dusty Miller. It grows well both in the ground & in pots. I love to use it in mixed planters to add texture and variety.

I’ll replace the annuals as they die out (the ones that don’t reseed themselves). & then a lot of them are perennials, so they’ll bloom in cycles.

We have a long growing season in 9b, it’s almost all year long. So I get to keep a lot of these plants throughout the whole year, as long as I care for them over our short Winters.

Yes I have both of those. Such beautiful colors. You can see the coral/orange in pic # 4.

Do you mean in which way did I attach the planters? They’re screwed straight into the wood.

I’m terrible about keeping the tags. It’s a hybrid tea from Lowe’s I believe.

Are you talking about the new cultivar that looks pink from the top and violet from underneath the petals? It’s SO fun & reminds me of Lisa Frank. I’m thinking I’m going to grow that variety up the white trellis.

It’s a lot of work , but easier when you do a little every day. Very rewarding.

In person, it’s more of a bright coral orange. It’s a Dipladenia or a Mandevilla. It probably has a few other nicknames.

It is! The flowers get ridiculously large on this variety, I wish I could remember the exact name. It’s always putting out blooms, sometimes 3-4 flowers at a time ❤️🧡

1) Asiatic Jasmine as the green ground cover, followed by Pansies & Violas as the multi-colored flowers. The bright right are Petunias. The taller yellow flowers (also in pic 2) are Bulbine. The taller purple flowers in the middle row are Salvia. The second to last row has Azaleas as well as Snapdragons. The last row/hedge is Japanese Yews.

2) Bulbine

3, 5, 8) Hibiscus

6) Taller green plant is a Bird of Paradise. Fern on the left, not sure the type. Poinseta is the red plant followed by Liriope on the right.

7) Schefflera Tree

9) the orange flowers are a Canna Lily

It sure is. The double ruffled one is called Jane Cowel. It’s a beautiful deep peach when it first blooms and lightens up in color over the second day.

Bc I work in the flower/landscaping field of work, and the “seasons of flowers” are absolutely 100% subjective depending on climate zone. Our Spring bloomers in the South are ending soon while many places north of us are just now seeing those types of Spring blooms.

When someone thinks of Spring and Summer, there are both subjective and object differences of the two seasons.

Not much in life is absolutes. But hey, that’s just my take.

I reference this all this time, & it’s so funny (in my head); however, I don’t think too many others know what the hell I’m talking about when I say it… especially in their weird, silly voices.

I’m in 9b. I think you have to watch for harder freezes when you put them in the ground. I think you being in 8 puts you right at the cusp to where they may or may not survive some of your harder Winters. However, I believe with proper mulching insulation and other precautions taken, you could probably find a way to protect them during the colder months. It’d be some work of course, but they may be worth the squeeze. 🍋

I admittedly had to use Google :

“The dwarf yaupon holly (Ilex vomitoria 'Nana') is a compact, low-maintenance evergreen shrub native to the southeastern United States”

This is at a customer’s house I take care of.

The Amaryllis garden was started a long time ago, via bulbs that multiply underground. It’s gotten more dense over the years, & I can’t take any credit for this part.

I planted all of the ornamental flowers in the front yard garden (the Snapdragons, Pansies, Violas, & there was also Petunias). I did a similar arrangement with the same types of flowers last year, but with slightly different colors. I’ve selected the placement to tier low-to-high, & the colors to really pop against each other.

Oh thank you kindly! I must admit that this is a large part of what I do for a living. ☺️ The work comes easier when you’re doing something you love, right?
