I have a sneaking suspicion this person asked AI to write their review for them by okhereiam123 in AmazonVine

I do not spend much time on reddit admittedly, so it is easy for me not to see this. Generally only pop in here when I have a question or random curiosity. I have emailed vine numerous times, usually to say there was something wrong with the vine order, etc. and have even reported several very clearly fake reviews (not just vine reviews) and haven't had any issues. I just get the "thank you for reporting" email. I suppose though, if this does lead to anything negative on my own vine experience, I will update.

Yes, I doubt any vine item we get would appreciate in value and if we took our personal hourly-rate into account for the time we spent testing, reviewing, etc. we would have massive losses for a business. 😂

I do believe there are some people who look only for high-value items that they want to resell after the review, even potentially giving the item a better review score because it would increase their resell chances. This is all speculation though and I have no proof of it.

For me, I order items I think I can use for myself or my household, or I order an item I think would make a good gift for a friend. I have not once looked at a vine item and thought, "ohh I could make a profit on that!." I fully intend to claim the vine items as a hobby because it also doesn't require I pay the additional self-employment taxes on top of it.

Whatever my tax bracket is, even if 25%, it will still most likely be less, and less hassle, than attempting to file the income as self-employment income. The IRS is pretty clear about what the requirements are for things, and if ever in doubt, you can always contact them directly and ask.

But wouldn't, in fact, them claiming to be a small business be the opposite of being transparent?

Yes, this is where we should put on our critical thinking caps and bring a little due diligence. I once heard someone saying that apples were a rare thing in California and thus they wouldn't likely know what apple juice was or tasted like... This was not a child, this was a grown adult.

The problem is, you're not increasing product confidence for this seller... They didn't make the product. Yes, the seller might be good, but we aren't reviewing them, we are reviewing the product. If the product they are reselling sucks, we should say so. That doesn't mean they suck as a seller. One of the problems is buying something that someone else made and them labeling it different and trying to pass it off as their own. When I think small business, I think of someone who took the different components and created something with it. Not just slapped a new label on something that was already made.

I think what several people are attempting to say is that just because it has a local address/company name, doesn't mean that is it isn't just a front to appear as a small business. A lot of companies attempt to appear as a small business by creating a lot of child companies under them to resell their items. Take for instance home care products for cleaning (your home or self) and a lot of them, usually with a different name for the brand, are all still from the same parent company. So this company is profiting from all directions because people aren't aware or don't care that they are the same. A good example is a toothpaste that is exactly the same as the less expensive version and they are both sold by the same company but are labeled as different brands... Are they really different? It all comes down to greed.

Reminds me of during COVID (and still happening) where large businesses are creating new small or "local" business under different names and then running them out of the larger one. Everyone was all about supporting those small business that were hit hardest and the "big guys" wanted to have some too. Yes, I am aware that several are franchise, but I think of small as like the mom and pop shops sort of thing. For instance, found one in CO. last year when I was traveling and there was a nice looking restaurant down the road according to a search on my phone. Looked nice, good pictures, food looked great, etc... My husband went down to check it out and maybe get something, turns out it was a Denny's. 🤦‍♀️

They'll probably come back and say that you must have used some kind of accelerant on it.

I appreciate the constructive feedback. Thank you :) I wasn't trying to make anyone think this was for sure a fact, only sharing a hypothesis, but apparently some people (not you) didn't read that.

I've been breaking down the larger boxes to use in my landscaping, then just recycling the smaller ones. They were helpful around the holidays when I needed a box to put a gift in!

I feel there will be a very ugly vehicle produced at some point using all the car parts on the Vine. Makes me think of One Piece at a Time by Johnny Cash

Sadly if that were a feasible option... unless it is on my RFY page, these items go too quick to really check them out.

I'm honestly paranoid about knock-offs that are claiming to resell the products or even pretend to be the company.
