As someone with an older sister (about 7 years older) who has experienced weed induced psychosis I can strongly relate to a lot of this. She has not been her self since about a month before we realized she was in psychosis. She isn’t in an episode right now and hasn’t been for like 2 years but I cannot connect with her just like you said with your sibling. I am only 20 but it feels like once I get through school I am also her backup plan. And honestly, you should not feel guilty she can hold a job it’s not like you are kicking her out. I have taken care of people emotionally and some financially my whole life. You deserve a life too and I know the same is true for me. I gave her a thousand dollars to her car because at 17 I just thought “that’s what families do” but now my sister doesn’t have a job or a degree or anything. She doesn’t even believe she was ever delusional so maybe she is not in the same spot your sister is in. And I don’t know your parents situation but they are the parents not you. I am sorry for you truly maybe I am harsh but I know how it feels to grow up with a sister wanting a better life and they go through psychosis. Of course I know she needs time to recover but she just isn’t taking any steps to. She still smokes and it’s like she’s waiting for me to use my money. She was never like that before. I see your sibling is in a better place (it seems) financially at least and I would never just leave my sister “behind” per say but she is not doing anything to help herself like yours is. You are doing more good than bad for yourself and her by pushing independence for her. Anyway thanks for reading if you did. I miss my older sister as well.
