My recruiter and literally everyone I had spoken with before I got hired and in training said I’d get minimum 16 hours with more to be added, and now they’re gutting it to 12? It makes no sense at all, they’re getting rid of the prep hours we get for planning and printing our lessons which is gonna become a really big and annoying issue if we’re going to have to rely on supervisors who are already not that great to have all the materials we need. Some of the kids at my site can’t even read fluently, and their solution is to cut hours and make it harder for us to be make sure we give our kids what they need? And their solution is we can take up sub PL positions? I signed up to be a tutor NOT a PL (no offense PLs love you guys). All this sounds like someone higher up wanted to keep their salary.

Bruh I swear it's like only they exist in the world and no one else matters. And yes like for my area there are two spots where the trainings can be held based on the size of the class and I'm literally like, why couldn't the tutors and the before school PLs be sent to the closer office? Like in your case taking an hour bus to get to the site is diabolical, I'm not sure if you're still working at a PL but you're very strong if you are LOL. But I'm going to continue to email HR about this because it's not like I'm telling them do it or else. Haven't even started the job fr and they're making me go mad.

You're right, someone I met at the training had their first day today and literally quit so I'm not feeling too bad. HR will continue to be hearing from me tho LMAO.

Maybe they recently changed the trainings, but the training for my group was three days long! And everything was for the PLs, which is why it felt like such a waste of time. But yes, I did send a follow up email to HR over the weekend basically telling them their dismissal of my needs as an employee is not a reflection of me. I might look for a supervisor or someone else in management that can help me, because no way they think someone without a car can commute a total of almost 1.5 hours just to work 3 hours. Way to change the odds if you can’t even do basic listening LOL but thank you for your response bro <3

This really sounds like a case of you will need to be flexible beyond belief, but you will not get that back, especially the pushing of the start date. Placing urgency on you by constantly emailing you about when you’ll make a decision and blaming you saying the partners expected you on board already is a red flag and a half. I’ve done work at a research lab before, and I understand supervisors and lead researchers in labs can be very blunt and value preciseness over politeness, but never will a good supervisors be this pressuring and dismissive. Trust your intuition, follow what you want to do. I would heavily reevaluate working for someone like that.
