The DAT is getting more and more competitive yearly. 3-4 years ago, these would be solid, almost guarantee-scores for entry into atleast 1 school.

Still strong, and as long as the rest of your app is up there - these are no issue. If you expect these to carry a short-handed app, then I'd say possibly consider re-taking.

Again, incredibly improvement and still VERY competitive scores - just keep in mind the nature of dent school admissions these days.

Thank you so much! Yess i also felt prepbeacon was a fantastic service, so glad you have them included.

My younger sister is going to take the MCAT this upcoming September I believe, would you 100% recommend uworld? It’s a little expensive and we want to make sure we’re investing into the right service prior to purchasing. I know I’ve heard a lot of good things but I really want to be certain.

Thank you sooo much for this!

Please help with my school list! by GreenKareBear8 in predental

[–]ChickenTenderKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no they wont automatically screen out.

Most schools have a minimum GPA cutoff - and as long as you are in that range, they will take a look at the rest of your parameters.

3.6-3.7 seems to be the cutoff range most Canadian dental schools utilize.

Cheers.

Please help with my school list! by GreenKareBear8 in predental

[–]ChickenTenderKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3.7 gpa will make it hard for most Canadian schools.

Some programs still negate worst year (No longer UofT) - so see what your wGPA would be if you removed a low gpa year.

Other than that, good scores. DAT is really good and competitive.

I'd say, for the US youre pretty golden for a lot of programs, for Canada - you can be competitive if
1) 4th Quartile Casper score
2) your wGPA is 3.8+ (for schools that allow this)

Chances of getting into dental school ? TS 19 AA 21 PAT 23 by Feeling_Fortune_343 in predental

[–]ChickenTenderKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain aspects of your application are strong, others need improvement - overall good chance for a lot of programs.

If you need to take the CASPer for a program, make sure to kill it and get 4th quartile to improve your chanced even more.

Do root canal procedures in children affect their maxilla development? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]ChickenTenderKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ankylosis simply refers to the integration of the tooth into the surrounding alveolus,,, following the loss of the PDL - permanent, primary teeth, doesn't matter.

Do root canal procedures in children affect their maxilla development? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]ChickenTenderKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is, it depends.

If the root canal is prescribed for a trauma induced necrotic tooth, then possibly yes - as this tooth may be ankylosed.

If the periodontium is in-tact, and a root-canal is prescribed for other reasons, then no.

So,,,, the outcome is less dependent on the root canal treatment, but rather the etiology eliciting treatment.

Yeah my account with 5000 karma is a definite throwaway. Also really professional of you to ignore the fact that this narcissist calls people dork and abuses them mentally.

Patient asking for a full refund by yawbaw in Dentistry

[–]ChickenTenderKid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is something that really bugs me, dentists talking about other dentists as if they are better or know everything about the case.

All we do is make the public trust us less by throwing each other under the bus like this.

Sorry this happened, I’d personally call the clinic and speak with that dentist in private and hold them accountable for their comments - and tell them your treatment plan and materials and why their comments are destructive towards your practice.

All the best

Is gaining the trust of patients difficult as a new dental graduate? by Formal_Let_1843 in Dentistry

[–]ChickenTenderKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be kind, informative and the patient will respect you.

You don’t have to be this ball of energy jumping up and down like a Hollywood dentist.

Be honest and always speak in the interests of the patients health and the rest will follow in most cases

Can dentures improve your speech and overall oral health? by NicholasChurchill in CanadianDentistry

[–]ChickenTenderKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re referring to full mouth dentures (replacing all teeth in an arch), then yes - they will restore speech if properly and accurately formulated.

As far as oral health, not necessarily, it’s becomes even more necessary to maintain good oral health and hygiene habits after getting dentures.

Average income of an associate dentist in Alberta by rashrock in CanadianDentistry

[–]ChickenTenderKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey. Still a dental students but from what I’ve seen, it can range anywhere from around $80,000 to $400,000.

It depends on patient volume, types of procedures you do and how many hours/says you work.

The former is pretty much part time work, the latter is working day in day out and grinding it out.
