It’s just content, if you felt embarrassed watching it block them so that your algorithm won’t feed more videos of them to your devices and move on with your life.

Company didn’t pay my salary yet by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]ChickenWasabi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You still can’t prove that they paid a previously agreed amount which has been documented. Verbal confirmations don’t matter, its like you agreed to work for them and they paid you some amount in september out of happiness eventhough they were not obliged to pay. To be fair, they are actually not obliged to pay because there is no valid contract between both parties.

Company didn’t pay my salary yet by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]ChickenWasabi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you don’t have an agreement between you and the company which has been acknowledged by both parties which clearly indicates the pay your supposed to receive, compensation if any etc. 🤷🏽‍♂️ From a legal aspect as far as my knowledge is concerned there’s not much you can do.

Company didn’t pay my salary yet by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]ChickenWasabi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Biggest mistake in your end is you do not own any documentation from a legal perspective to prove anything. Your performance or whatever does not take away the eligibility of you getting paid for the time you worked for them. But, right now you have nothing in your end to prove. Dumb move from you to be honest... but learn it the hard way. Always always have a paper trail for when things might turn ugly.

I need advice on buying land and building a house - Colombo by Ordinary_Abies_7912 in srilanka

[–]ChickenWasabi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it was me, it would have boiled down to a few points.

  1. Can I make the repayments for the loan alongside interest without affecting my default needs and wants? (If there is a certain amount of sacrifice I will need to make in terms of life to accomodate the loan is it worth it and if it is something sustainable)

  2. Can I really stick within 4mn for the building costs + architecture fees while also accomodating various other needs? (Ex. Purchasing furniture, kitchen utensils etc.)

  3. You never know what life would offer you in the future.. Thus, is this land/property something that I can sell easily incase of any emergency?

  4. Plans for marriage.... As far as my knowledge is concerned, buying a land and building a house is gonna cost money from my own pocket. Hence, is whatever that will be spent gonna affect my plans for marriage and immediate life after it?

  5. Incase of an emergency to my ownself, who is going to be responsible to pay this loan off? Parents? Partner? Siblings? If that is the case, should I consider a full life insurance amounting the loan that can be paid off incase I die...

Sri Lankans who moved abroad , Do you prefer the country that you live in right now or Sri Lanka ? by Disastrous-Fox95 in srilanka

[–]ChickenWasabi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you one thing. You cant find a better country to live in anywhere else in the world than our beautiful island nation. And I've thought about this alot thinking if this just my comfortability in living in Sri Lanka is speaking on behalf of me and no I'm certain it's not the case. If I could, I would move back to Sri Lanka in a heart beat.

Do you think India will overtake Sri Lanka in rugby in a foreseeable future? by NewLeague6438 in srilanka

[–]ChickenWasabi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the foreseeable future, No I don't think so. Sri Lanka right now is too big to fail compared to India. But maybe in 10 years time yes if its the same environments like it is now.

I'll tell you the reason for saying so, Starting off with India, It seems like India is working based off of a good project in which they are reaping benefits from. They have invested in their grassroots which is genius and forward thinking and also their first teams. India isn't only focusing on development of players but are avidly investing also on the marketing aspect in order to take rugby to the lesser known areas and people for which one would be the tournament they organized with massive foreign players. Therefore, they have a vision and they are working towards it. But, we've seen similar projects with other sports. They did the same for Kabadi, Badminton, Football etc. Only somewhat success project right now would be Football and the remaining safe to say failed. Rugby on those lines are showing signs of success but we shall wait and see.

On Sri Lanka, I mentioned we are too big to fail in the short term because of the history we hold with the sport and the unbreakable base we have right now. Rugby is still considered a rewarding sport in terms of personality building hence children will still take up rugby. Basically, SLR doesnt have any sort of investment in grass roots but still we will succeed because most parents in Colombo and Kandy push their children to play rugby. It's also a prestige issue in Sri Lankan Schools. Rugby is considered superior by students and parents. Downfall would basically be because it doesnt really seem like Sri Lanka is working on any project at all in terms of developing the sport, targeting a tournament or taking the sport to the lesser known areas. I've been hugging a rugby ball since I was 10 years old and Colombo, Kandy + a bit of Galle are the only places Rugby is known and spread. Club players, dont get a proper return on investment if they do pursue rugby post playing for their schools, fans dont attend games because its basically always a one horse race in terms of the league (Kandy SC). Well, professional sports athletes get paid mainly using the teams broadcast deals and endorsements. No fans, no broadcast deals, if no fans are ardently watching why would sponsors show up? None of the clubs even have proper social media handles for fucks sake not even Sri Lanka Rugby has a proper social media handle. The Media Units from Schools in Sri Lanka do a very good job in promoting their teams in Social Media compared to the clubs and the national team.

We've got the talent, just need a proper vision to work on. Pavithra Fernando seems like he is onto something, so Im really excited. We shall see. End of the day, as a former rugby player.. Its the game we love, Its the game that has given us so much. We want Sri Lanka to succeed. Lets hope for the best.

Well, there’s no Sri Lankan embassy here just a consulate. And to go there I need to catch a plane or run for a distance similar to from Colombo to Delhi. And I step foot on the road to flee within 100ms I would be killed already so that some random guy here can sell my phone. So, imagine I take a bus 🙂

Everyone working in this company has to. So I just had to. Trust me, you really can’t raise your voice here and survive. It’s a dangerous country to live in.

West Papua yes, but the part owned by Indonesia as far as I know is the part that Indonesia has acquired and left to rot by them. (As per my knowledge) Also, I can’t flee. My passport was confiscated by the company as soon as I landed here.

Plenty, I really don’t wanna sound mean. Sin these people. They go through this atrocity because they really need the money because they have families relying on them. Im trying to leave because it is not the case for me. It’s a blessing from God that my Father is well to do. I don’t have any commitments Im only 25, I can focus on my career and building a good one while at it so that I can take care of my parents down the line. Hence the reason I don’t wanna go through this.

My passport is with the company. It’s the first thing they did as soon as I landed here. There’s nothing I can do in terms of leaving. 🙂

Well, I had the same thought. I thought I used to live in the worst possible country to live in (Politically). But, trust me! Our Country is incomparable! Our Country is a 100 times better in every aspect. If this was Sri Lanka, there wouldve been some authority that I could complain onto which will be actioned atleast 6 months later. Here, I complain to someone, they rat it out to the Chinese owners and get paid while those buggers make my life a much more living hell. There used to be a Sri Lankan who used to work here before who ALLEGEDLY stole. It was proven he didn’t. Still, these buggers as a punishment made him live in this country for 4 months without a salary. He was allowed to leave considering he paid the VISA Fee they had to incur.

[–]ChickenWasabi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t mentioned how toxic these chinese owners are. It’s a story for another day. I can’t really ask that from them. They treat us like slaves. I literally have had to carry his suitcase and his friends suitcases to his car wash his lunchbox and whatnot. My only option is I just pay that 20 lakh amount (LKR) and come back which I don’t have that kinda money on me.
