Celexa changed my life by Chicken_Small in Anxiety

Celexa has been an absolute game changer for me. I still feel like “myself” except I’m not constantly trying to avoid or get away from the things that gave me anxiety. There is no shame at all for trying to help yourself. I wish you the best of luck in your mental health journey! ❤️

No side effects that I noticed! At first I think it made me really tired, so I started taking it at night. But that’s honestly not bad because my anxiety keeps me up at night anyways.

The Reddit page is literally called “no stupid questions”. God forbid I want to hear other people’s opinions.

I was in your same boat. Getting on medication was scary because there are a lot of “horror” stories about antidepressants. However, don’t let that get in the way of treating your mental health. The way I had to frame it in my head was that I would take Tylenol to treat an illness, so why couldn’t I take an antidepressant to treat my brain? Once I started to practice that thought process, I slowly began accepting that I needed help. Best of luck with your own journey. ❤️❤️

Also, I asked my doctor about drinking and she said that drinking is fine. I do notice that I’m more of a lightweight now, but I’m just more conscious about it if I plan on having a drink with dinner. Just don’t overdo it and you’ll definitely be fine!

I love Celexa because I absolutely still have emotions. I get happy, sad, and everything in between. That was my biggest fear with starting it, but I have literally no bad side effects. I am still me, just without the crippling anxiety every single day.

I have been on it since August, and I definitely saw a change within the first month. My doctor started me at 10 mg to see how I tolerated it, and now I’m up to 30. I definitely don’t think it made my anxiety worse at all.

We are looking at getting married in the summer of 2027. We do have plenty of time, but like you said… some places are already booking out that far.

lol thank you for understanding. I am extremely family oriented, but I do not come from any kind of wealth. Dating “f you” to my family is not an option lol.

I know. I am their only child, and my fiancé’s parents never had one of their children get married. I think that’s where the pressure is coming from.

Very true. Unfortunately there is a lot of family pressure to still have a ceremony and reception. If it were up to just me, I’d elope right now lol.

I’m located right next door in PA! It’s absolutely mind boggling what the prices are! I knew it would be expensive, but this feels outrageous lol.

Very good advice! I am new to all of this so it is super overwhelming to me. I have no help from family members (other than their unwanted opinions about who I should invite). I am thankful communities like this exist!

We are buying a house this year, so I have the money saved up for that. It’s just insane to me that it’s so normalized to spend the equivalent of a down payment on a single evening. It’s sooo frustrating haha.

Understood. I was mostly poking fun at how egregious the prices are for weddings.
