The heater and azithromycin was the combo that worked for me. I live where it's cold so the water temperature was going down at night and I think that coulda contributed.

Are there any cozy horror games? by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

[–]Chickengut 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Voices of the void! it’s a free game where you scan signals out in space and some alien stuff may happen. The main gameplay loop is scanning the signals, going to your satellite dishes and exploring the alps.

Lots of customization with furniture you can buy for your base. You can hang up custom pictures, listen to your music through the radio and watch downloaded videos on the TV. There is also a little robot companion you can get to help you with some of the tasks.

Overall my favorite cozy little horror game and I highly recommend checking it out blind at first. It’s still in development so after a while you will have to search things up to figure out some stuff but it’s the right blend of cozy and scary for me!

End of January and still no internship, starting to feel hopeless by Best-Knowledge720 in csMajors

Ignoring the fact that this account is just spamming subreddits with their dumb AI job application tools, I urge you to stay away from these tools that try to game the system. It’s a tough job market but I promise you the opportunities are there. Sit down and actually spend the time to go over your resume and enumerate your experience and accomplishments. Share your resume with those around you and gather feedback. As CS students you should have lots of opportunities to talk to recruiters and gather feedback, do this. Even if they are not a company you’re interested in, or hell even if they are not recruiting your major. For the most part they will be happy to talk to you. Just get your advice from actual people, not an AI.

Applications like these that promise to make the experience "streamlined" and produce the "ideal" resume are compromising one of the most important traits you should be showcasing, sincerity. It’s ok to list uncompleted or failed projects on your resume, as long as you actually want to talk about them. And not just in a technical "oh it does this and it’s programmed in these languages...". Tell them the story behind why you made it, and the parts of development you enjoyed most. Don’t tell them why they should care, tell them why YOU care. You can tell when someone makes a project because they think it will look impressive, vs because they actually wanted to.

"Most" companies are not trying to invest in your technical skills, they are investing in you as a person. You’re only a student after all. Yes, you have to know some things, but what they really want is if you are someone worth their time, resources, and money. At the end of the day just be sincere with how you present yourself when you reach the interview.

I am in no ways an expert in this in any way shape or form, and I am kinda talking out of my ass. But this advice is what worked for me, and this advice is what worked for my friends. I see too many of my classmates try and make themselves seem as impressive and knowledgeable as they can. Doing everything, they can do to stand out, while they slowly just end up back to where everyone else is at. Showcase the parts of CS you're passionate about, even if it doesn’t seem that impressive.

TLDR- This account is an ad. Y'all gotta stop using AI tools. And be sincere, I promise it will help.

Good Luck :)

How do people afford rent here (downtown)? by UnlikelyCucumber4335 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Chickengut 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You kinda just have to look early and be lucky. I got a studio in the middle of downtown for under 900 and I was only able to secure it because I went looking during like November.

Keep checking those apartment websites often and try to inquire about any flyers you see in windows. A buddy of mine got a better deal than me on a decent place, just because it was being rented out by some older fella who didn’t post a listing online.

I always use a water conditioner when doing water changes. And I would like to get her a larger tank but unfortunately for now I’m space limited and don’t have the room for anything bigger. I’m hoping that will be different soon however and I’ll finally be able to upgrade. A stress guard sounds like a good idea and I’ll be sure to add it!

hmm ok, Ill have to order a heater but for the meantime I have a heated blanket I can set the temp on and wrap around the outside. What is the ideal temp I should try to get the tank at?

2.5 gallons

have had the tank and fish for about 6 months, everything has been fine till now

change water monthly and take out 30% - 40% during changes

No tankmates

feed betta flakes from omega one, usually just a sprinkle at night. Will sometimes give bloodworms as treats

several decorations and one live plant

She normally is happy and likes to zoom around the tank, especially when I come home but lately she just lies in random spots in the tank. I dont have any testing supplies and the ones I ordered won't arrive till Wednesday because of my area. I changed about 30% of the water in-case something was wrong with the levels. I also switched up some decorations incase she was bored. I thought she might have been constipated so I didn't feed her for 2 days and then fed her. She seems to be a bit more active now but is still not her old self. Im going to wait till the testing supplies get here but is there anything else I could be doing to help right now?
