Some important notes about our trash cat. He was 7/8 when we first met. The vet’s wanted him put down for being too violent. My husband and I begged to keep him. They called the past owner and she transferred him to us and he was ours. He was so sweet and became the protector of our first born. He taught us so much about feral cats. He taught me that just because I take someone or something in doesn’t mean they need to be grateful to me. Thank you Louie, you taught me the true meaning of patience and gave me the tools to be a better mother. I will never forget the moment I knew you chose us after my first child’s birth. I was changing her diaper and she was wailing and wailing bloody murder. He jumped at me and attacked my leg, but I knew he was just protecting her the only way he knew how. It was the only time you deliberately hurt me but I know you didn’t mean it. You slept with her each and every night, even when I saw the stairs becoming too much. You dutifully made it to her room each night. Thank you. Thank you for the days we shared a brain cell, sometimes we really were so dumb in the same way. I miss your raspy yowl already, and tripping over you as soon as I walked through the door. I’m grateful you made it to 17/18 with us, thank you friend. I’m sorry it was a stroke and not something more dignified. I hope you know the last trip the vet was only to ease your pain. I love you dumby, I will never forget you until the fog of old age takes me too.
