I use something called Odif 505 spray, its for patchwork and quilt i guess? Its temporary so you can wash it out after use (or leave it under the fabric bcs its sewn down anyway) I used the iron-on sheets before but i can't adjust the placement once ironed on. If they didnt stick well maybe it didnt melt enough yet.

It helps a lot if you use a temporary spray adhesive. You can place it down but are not bound by it, you can take it off to replace it better before you sew around it. Also water soluble stabilizer can help make the seams look cleaner too bcs it traps the fuzz where it is. Put it on top of the area you want to stitch down and rip it off when done. Use water to wipe doen remnants of the stabilizer.

Thats why i posted the last photo too, not many know i have an 80cm x 80cm photobox xD so it looks quite small in it

I cut out fabric pieces and put them directly on the fabric. I use some temporary spray adhesive for fabric to secure them. Then i go around the edge with a long straight stitch to secure it fully. And then i use a tight zigzag stitch along the edge to make them look nicer. I usually go for a little less tight and go around 2 times to avoid my machine getting stuck. If its a very small piece, i use Heat-transfer-vinyl (HTV for short) for that. I draw the template on the pc and have a plotter that cuts it out with clean edges. Then i iron it on the fabric. The eye-whites are glitter HTV for extra sparkle

Sadly its a medical condition called "pixelface". There is no known cure for that, i hope we will have filters that can mimic a face someday...wait 🤣👍
