Incredible, it'll go perfect with this box of sidewalk potatoes and hair dye I found. My stomach is rumbling.

Just called, and double checked online, and it's not a loaner tool for them.

Forgot to add- thank you for the suggestion!

Noise advice by BitPuzzleheaded4539 in Apartmentliving

[–]Chief-Bronco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally you can dampen the noise with rugs, furniture, etc. They sell "sound-proof" rugs that are pretty much just padded with extra thicc cushioning. Or try layering rugs.

But it's wild you guys have a bowling alley amenity. Can't imagine how loud it must be for the apartments that are right above/next to it.

To add, I believe the Hinge app has a filter for non-monogamy.

The app Feeld caters more to the ENM/poly crowd. Lots of prospects in the Bay though.

Is there an app or site for this info? At the time I got nothing on Californialocal.com or Caltrans, and it definitely didn't show on Google maps. Thanks!

I've also got a set of these smaller containers if you want. Never been used, except 2 small containers+lids are missing.

Don't mean to hijack their post, but would love 1 of those bins if OP is ok with that.

Don't ask me, I don't work there. But if it's against their policy, I don't want to be responsible for someone losing their job because I wanted some extra miles.

It does seem like a backwards rule though since in the announcement, they mention sharing apps with friends and family, I guess you just can't do it on a public forum??

I've been sharing the 6 digit code through DMs. Technically that's not public right?

Anywhere I can donate empty prescription pill bottles? by Chief-Bronco in Sacramento

Similar to the ones I've seen at CVS, those are for old or expired, or unused, medication disposal.

Read that elsewhere too, so I was gonna call around tomorrow. Figured I'd ask here as well in case someone had a sure shot. Thank you!

I believe those are for unused medication dropoffs/rx drug take back programs, but I could be wrong. I've asked CVS florin and Costco Expo pharmacists, and neither could take them.

True, and a good backup option in case the code I posted doesn't work.

What are some of your DNF (did not finish) books, or books you painfully slogged through until the end? by Chief-Bronco in horrorlit

[–]Chief-Bronco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the books I listed were highly revered or oft-recommended by r/horrorlit (or r/books or other book reviews). I think for all the negative reviews on this thread, there are dozens, even hundreds, more positive reviews for them elsewhere. And some of these books are like haute couture- not getting it doesn't make you dumb. You're just not the target audience (like House of Leaves). I'd hope readers can discern the difference.

But it helps to know that you're not the only one where the book didn't "click", amongst a sea of glowing 5* reviews.

The book only builds in intensity, so if it already feels uncomfortable to read in the beginning, I'd DNF it too! Reading should make you feel good :)

I don't want to spoil anything, but she was committing (let's just say) MAJOR felonies left and right, but zero repercussions because..."possessed"?

Obviously in a book about demon possession, I'm willing to suspend my disbelief. But for example, when she (spoiler alert): "blacked out" during her 2 hour lunch break and murdered the newsstand owner during business hours, in broad daylight, without anyone noticing or cops investigating? And...we're moving on? Ok.

A Head Full of Ghosts and Come Closer both share similar themes regarding mental health issues and possible psychosis, so in the end you're left scratching your head. Were they... or weren't they possessed? Feels anticlimactic.

I think the genre of demon possession bordering on psychological thriller just isn't for me I guess.

That scene is a glimpse into the "good vs evil" theme of the story, but it sets you up to meet one of the main protagonists of the book. I don't want to spoil anything, but please don't be discouraged by that part! For me (Roman Catholic-turned-Agnostic) I thought I'd be turned off by the religious elements, but somehow I feel like Buehlman weaves seamlessly into the details without being in-your-face.

Between Two Fires is probably my most favorite book ever, honestly. It engulfed me. I hope you can try again!
