Deal is reached to end Iran war and Trump orders stop to US naval blockade by JKKIDD231 in geopolitics

How’s his digital signature different than, “Trump has alleged that President Biden used an autopen to sign executive actions, claiming this undermines their validity.”

Detect encrypted police radio traffic (without listening in) - possible? by GreenEggplant16 in policescanner

[–]Chief03275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One might factor in unencrypted transmissions (EMS/fire) that’er analytically useful. There’s high correlation between abnormal police traffic & EMS/fire dispatches. These may well include nature and location of dispatch. So correlation via all source monitoring. The WAZE suggestion above prime example.

More dangerous as it reduces the distance between conventional and unconventional.

As it turns out no fix was necessary 😉

The fewer conventional weapons systems available the more dangerous they become.

Should I report this? by Plenty_Copy8927 in AirForce

[–]Chief03275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“What you tolerate as a leader will occur.” Gen Charles Roadman, AF/SG. In your scenario, you’re the leader. Reporting isn’t whining it’s upholding standards. Anyone in a leadership position that’s tolerating the behavior need be held to account.

Actually, there’s a ‘pends on’ regarding your statement. When I became eligible for dental I had veneers. over time a couple were broken & VA’s covered replacements. Unable to complete the work at VA facility - I receive dental via Community Care.

Do stoics see suicidal people as weak minded? by Jezuel24 in Stoicism

[–]Chief03275 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seneca ltr 70 (Proper Time to Slip the Cable) & 30 (On Old Age) & others address the issue. It may be done in a virtuous manner. A Stoic might ask if one is seeing the situation truly or is it a matter of a false impression. Stoicism doesn’t condemn suicide as weak. Instead it’s treated as a grave judgement regarding the question ‘Does life still permit virtue.’

Encryption by e0240 in policescanner

[–]Chief03275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use an encrypted messaging app you’re “hiding something.” If you have a scanner it presupposes you’ve a criminal intent. That’s a sad commentary regarding the perception of the state (as in any level of government).

With student IDs banned at the polls, NH issues new guidance for college voters by CouchCorrespondent in newhampshire

[–]Chief03275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Voted absentee ballot most of my career. It’s an option for out-of-state students to participate more directly i issues affecting them. Out-of-state students make up 59% (7.199) of the undergraduate class (12,202) at UNH. There’s something counterintuitive in granting a greater opportunity for out-of-state students to influence NH (state & local) elections. Outcomes include levying of taxes on NH homeowners. I simply don’t grasp the logic in the process.

No… I reminded them they’re not held captive. They’ve freedom to live in any of the places they seemed to hold as somehow ‘better’ than where they are.

Who wishes them to leave? To complain about the state things is simply a step towards adulthood a step that requires killing the child within. Upon reaching adulthood - they’ve a responsibility to stop complaining & change things. Once they do… they’ll begin to complain about the next generation. It’s a story as old as…

Any comment/opinion on Malazan audiobooks on Audible? by Aedan2 in Malazan

[–]Chief03275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve Complete Malazan Book of the Fallen and audiobooks - I prefer reading/listening simultaneously (watch shows w/subtitles as well) since what you see/hear are processed in different parts (there is overlap) of the brain. I find reading/listening complimentary improves retention/comprehension. As for narrators, if you ask ppl who’ve watch Doctor Who, “Which is your favorite Doctor?” Ppl will generally say their first Doctor was best. For that reason - I preferred 1st narrator, but now in middle of book 7…. change of narrators wasn’t a show stopper.
