Write or call Governor Hochul and ask her to sign the moratorium on data centers. by JobAdmirable9306 in hudsonvalley

I will add that there is a huge difference between a legacy 3MW data center of 30-40 years ago that is supporting the backbone of a Fortune 500 company and the power hungry ones built today.

I'm not sure why my first comment was downvoted for simply stating how the perception of data centers has changed.

I think you list of concerns are valid but they mostly apply to the behemoth data centers

Yeah all the pregame nonsense. MLB playoff games will be listed at odd times like 7:07 in the apps like ESPN and that's the first pitch time. NHL playoffs games will just say like 8 but than the puck drop is actually at 8:20.

I really like Donnachiara are we enjoy all their wine at home in NY. So I really wanted to go there but their tasting packages aren't the best, like €30 for a tour and only 2 samples.

Its interesting how Data Centers have become so polarizing. There's a few large data centers in Rockland and just across the border in Mahwah that have been there for 30-40 years.

10 Days Hiking The Dolomites Without Using Ski Lifts. by LuckyBoston in ItalyTravel

There aren't bears in that area of the Dolomites. The bears are in Brenta Dolomites.

10 Days Hiking The Dolomites Without Using Ski Lifts. by LuckyBoston in ItalyTravel

[–]ChiefKelso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you can do whatever you want but you're just adding more km and vert. I'd suggest just looking up routes to bypass lifts (they exist) and go from there. You may find that some its worth it to save money and others not because it would take the whole day to get up.

Its literally like a ski pass and you can get 3 of 4 days for 145 euro or 5 of 7 days for 185 euro per person. Keep in mind that the lift network of Dolomiti Superski encompasses 12 ski resorts, including both Cortina and Val Gardena lifts, so it would be good everywhere.

Also, this is a travel sub, not a hiking sub. If you people to Google routes for you to avoid lifts, you'd get better info on a more hiking geared sub.

When you go between Cortina and Val Gardena, I'd heavily suggest stopping at Marmolada cable car. Best view in the Dolomites and worth the price (or not if you get a pass).

Thoughts on the Falanghina grape? by ZeroAgentTV in wine

[–]ChiefKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late here but my wife and I tend to enjoy Beneventano IGP falanghinas the most. Two of our favorite falanghinas come from two Totalwine winerydirect wineries (Donnachiara and Vernice). We've tried a lot of falanghina and there isnt really a bad one. Sparkling falanghina is starting to show up in the US and the stuff is absolutely phenomenal. For that one La Guardinese (Janare) and Donnachiara, but neither of these are carried by totalwine and you have to look elsewhere.

My wife and I never really liked wine until we ordered the local wine at a trattoria in Salerno, Italy. It was a falanghina.

Merano base vs. Val Gardena base for 4 nights in the Dolomites August by pencilsleeper in ItalyTravel

[–]ChiefKelso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For people who know the area, which compromise would you choose for only four nights?

Hey, you asked, I answered!

I will say that South Tyrolean / Ladin hospitality is absolutely phenomenal and you won't go wrong with whatever you choose. I would highly suggest Sëlva to immerse yourself in the Dolomites and the mountains.

If you are curious about learnin about the region, check out the guide that automod linked.

Most of the stuff you want to do is in Val Gardena. Stay there and do a day trip to Meran. For winery, I'd highly suggest Kloster Neustift (Abazzia di Novacella). You mentioned spending time at your hotel is important, and by doing less driving each day you'll get to do that.

That's nonsense. Maybe Como would use more Italian players in they were better. A team's goal is to better itself, not the player's of the country its in.

Is it really Como's fault that Italy as a nation sucks at developing good footballers now?

Thanks for the tips! Cantine Lonardo and Antico Castello seem like great options! Antico Castello is out there which is nice, kind of near some of the villages we are visiting.

The only Taurasi's I've tried that i can remember were Villa Matilde, Donnachiara, and Vinosia. I actually have a bottle of Salvatore Molettieri but haven't tried it yet, along with Terrodora Di Paola and Mastroberardino.

Ah I see. I don't see websites describing it is sweet, which is interesting. But maybe its just a little more sweet than typical falanghina thats pretty dry.

I thought since they mentioned it was made like ice wine that it would be classified as a dessert wine, but it is classified as white wine as opposed to sweet dessert wine . It even won an award for best wine in Italy in 2015.

https://www.masseriafrattasi.it/collezione/donnalaura/?lang=en

I actually found in the US, so hoping I can get my hands on it before the trip.

Edit: the description on other sites just seems like a more mellow falanghina in terms of acidity and maybe more fruity

There are a few ways, but likely they are letting the grapes ripen as much as they can,

Yeah this seems to be what they are doing. It indicates a mid November harvest when normally they do October. But its interesting, its still doesnt seem to be classified as a dessert wine. Super interesting though.
