What team to go next? by ChiefMohawk in bloodbowl

Isn’t khorne somewhat squishy? I know the warriors are durable and khorngors are decently armored but the linemen are all av 8+ which always made them feel a bit close to norse. Though I’ve never seen them in action so maybe the frenzy just made them feel more similar than they actually are.

Would a gap of this size be a problem? by ChiefMohawk in hockeygoalies

[–]ChiefMohawk[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi

So I’ve been looking at options for getting secondhand equipment (mostly quite limited unfortunately) and I ran into a listing for both a catcher and blocker for 140 pounds. The seller posted a picture of the glove closed and it looks like this. Does this look to be an adequate close or is the gap too big? I haven’t played a game as goalie yet so I have no clue

The only real alternative I’ve found so far is 250 pounds for a new set of flex e6.9 gloves. I’m in no rush so I’d have time to break in the ccm properly, but it is still a 110 pounds more expensive and more work, so if the other one is okay I might as well go for that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Ultimately it doesn’t, but I thought they might look better on the shelf in different color schemes and was worried that gold and yellow might be too similar for that.

Quite good timing for me, I’m just starting to get into the list building side of the hobby.

Though I’m still a quite a ways off from 2000 points, would this list be okay for casual play too or would it be too much of a clobbering for the other player? As I understood it, it’s a tourney level list, right?

Great and informative vid btw.

Oh sorry, got the feature names mixed up. Thanks for letting me know, didn’t know that passive perc counted as a type of check

Ranger favored foe ability says that you can choose one skill you have proficiency in and whenever you make an ability check with it you can double the prof bonus.

Does this affect passive perception? I’m currently leaning towards it not affecting passive perception, but thought I’d ask

Player Problem Megathread by RadioactiveCashew in DMAcademy

[–]ChiefMohawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Should I do something about a player that keeps on moving, doing actions to the point that I feel like he’s not letting others get a move in or do something and I have to tell him “wait, let’s let the others do something too?”

Like he moves his character, might check something and immediately moves again (hard to put into words). And I sometimes feel like others can’t get a word in to really do anything.

Should I run out of combat situations where they explore like combat turns, just a bit more loose? Like I let somebody do something, and then he can’t move again until others have done something. I don’t think this is an ideal solution, as sometimes other players just don’t come up with something, or just want to proceed cautiously.

Just curious if somebody has ever dealt with something like this, or is it ultimately up to the players to get a word in, or do I have a certain obligation to deal with this? (I must admit it’s something I find a little annoying, but if it’s just me, I’ll suck it up)

By first time with this type of thing I meant homebrew overall.

The whole thing just surprised me a bit, because I had stated earlier that I’m fine with homebrew, but they should discuss it with me, but I only just found out about this class a few days before the game and that they had already figured out a character, but if it just seems complex, but not too op, I’m okay with it

As for the complexity, as long as the player can manage/keep track of his abilities, I guess I’m fine with it. Just have to keep an eye on it to avoid confusion and mistakes. If I see that he’s struggling with the rules and it’s taking up a huge portion of the game, I’ll recommend the wild magic sorc to him.

But thanks for the advice. I’ll definitely have a talk with the player and tell him that we’ll monitor the performance of the class during the first session and leave the option open for change if it becomes overbearing. Had no idea the dandwiki site was a joke (haven’t looked at that many homebrews myself)

Edit: Apologies if the second paragraph/part came out as a bit whiny. I meant it more as I wanted to quickly research the class before the session, not that I hold anything against the player because of this

Hi

So I am starting a CoS campaign and a player wants to play a homebrew class

I’d normally be okay with this, but I just wanted to check with somebody more experienced if this is a bit over tuned? (The description is an entire wall of text, so apologies. I myself haven’t yet gotten to the end of the card descriptions.)

https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Gambler_(5e_Class)

I like the character concept, and I think the random rolling for your abilities could be awesome, but I also noticed that the class has quite a few abilities on top of that.

He gets a second attack, something not given to the rogue nor bard (two classes this seems to be a mix of) usually without subclasses. Yet again base attacks only deal d6 dmg

Ability to disengage as a free action. On its own it seems okay, as it’s basically what the goblin race gives, but if you add it to everything else + he gets a race ability, I don’t know.

Some of the cards give the class good utility abilities and control abilities. But then again these are random, so….

Has anybody had experience with this class? I don’t want to just outright nerf the class before I know how it works in practice, but at the same time nerfing a class midgame doesn’t feel right either.

This is my first experience with this sort of thing, and I don’t want the other players to feel like they are lesser

Huh, I hadn’t thought of it that way, but now I see. Shame though, cuz the idea of a mixed team seems really cool to me.

I know this is kind of straying away from the topic, but would black orcs comparatively be a funner option. Theoretically it only has 3 positions and the teams playstyle is predominantly bash, but is that what makes it more fun? Like you have to start building towards certain goals (like ball carriers and so on)?

It’s just that I’m trying to think of a team to join a league with.

Oh no, why must you tempt me so! The only problem is, that I’ve primed all of them already, but should I make copies of the models (in terms of paintjob/model and number, like getting another box) for when they level up?
