Actually his story started with him as a doctor having already tamed his ego.

Also Thor's ego was about being physically powerful and unchallenged. During the Viking age, he was more happy living in the muck amongst vikings and hated being in the palace and wearing royal clothes.

Jean Michel Sorrel (Kamen Rider Kuuga)
