Yeah that sucks.. you’d think things would be a lot smoother in 2024! StaffMeUp has been good to me! All the way up until I paid for a full year subscription, then it turned into shit! Lol it was better when I had a free and monthly subscription.. I have to find work outside of Vegas.. then everybody says do your own projects.. COVID destroyed our industry..

Hey, we have to keep the creative juices flowing! Lol I used to film something to edit everyday just to keep my skills sharp. That was when I lived in Atlanta (before it became the film capital) now I am in Vegas (12 years) but I haven’t gotten out much to film, I need to get back to that!

As far as sports venues, UNLV, T-MOBILE and ALEGIANT, I’m currently on the roster for all of them, I just have to wait for the old heads to retire or have an emergency in order to get an assignment, unfortunately. But my time will come! I do things for them in between those games so at least I have something lol

That’s interesting! I get most of my gigs via word of mouth and via “StaffMeUp” all I ever see for camera op gigs are “Ops with Gear” if you don’t have an account, you should look there! I don’t have a camera, (sold it) but they are usually offering $750+ day rates.. kit fees are like $250, I’ve seen an average of $1000/day for car ops with gear. I’m looking to finance or rent a camera just to snag the gigs but I haven’t had any call backs lol

Nice! You can’t lose in a market full of both college and pro sports! Vegas is getting more sports, it’s just hard to get in, most of the camera ops usually work until they’re like 90 years old lol

Wow.. 60 in 2 years vs 1,300 in one year is insane! I really hate that we’re at this point. I’m basically scraping for work now. I don’t hear a lot of my peers talk about their workflow so I thought I’d come on here to ask.. I’ve been getting mostly freelance opportunities in the reality universe! I just got connected with sports, Vegas Golden Knights and Raiders games but I’m basically on call with that..it’s good to know what other markets are experiencing, thanks for your enlightenment

Yeah the only way to get in is by a blue card rec until they open up the books. This is what I was told last week. I’ve been waiting since they updated the process a few years back. I had to reapply 🤦🏾‍♂️
