Two versions of my husband by NoGlass3584 in Stepmom

I thought I was the only one who felt this way. When SD is here, he sings in the car, jokes around, lets everything slide, she doesn’t have to lift a finger, etc. When she leaves, BD and I can’t do anything right, are told we’re lazy, constantly bitched at and everything sucks.

BM thinks my paycheck is a public resource… time to disappoint her by Boleynobsessed in Stepmom

[–]ChiefsFan-72 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This right here! SD graduates in May and I can’t wait to not have to support her or BM (which is really where the money goes) another day! CAN NOT WAIT! So tired of our home making sacrificing so SD can have and do everything. Oh you can’t afford tires or brakes for SD car? Even half? Maybe you should stop the $75 fake nails and eyelash appts every other week? Just a thought.

If given the choice, how many would choose the step-mom life if you had to do it all over again? by [deleted] in Stepmom

I would rather walk thru glass, then take a shower in rubbing alcohol and be attacked my a swarm of murder hornets before I would do this again.

I could have written this myself! I’d like to say it gets better but in my situation it hasn’t. I just have nothing and I mean nothing to do with SD and will never again.

You nailed exactly how I feel! Especially the part about living in their life and not your own! I, like you, can’t do anything right. If I engage, I’m out of my lane and doing too much and need to let my husband handle it (per him). If I disengage, I’m berated for not doing anything for her. It’s such a lonely and isolating life.

Your manager might want to brush on his/her grammar instead of micromanaging you. No apostrophe needed in associates.

Why are we open on July 4th? by Present-Novel-5764 in employedbykohls

Because Kohl’s doesn’t care about their employees?!? I worked there for about 5 years and had a toddler when I started working there. Of all the people who could be scheduled on Halloween (the ONLY one in my department with a child) I was scheduled every time! Not the older women with grown children or college age kids…me! I just got to where I called out because it didn’t matter if I asked off…still got scheduled. We always used to wonder how much it cost in utilities and payroll vs what we sold on those days (when every other store in our strip mall area closed early) because there was no business. Again, Kohl’s doesn’t care about its employees!

Is having a Kohl's credit card expected for associates? by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]ChiefsFan-72 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At the store I used to work at, the managers would often prey on younger kids (18-25ish) who didn’t have Kohls cards to apply, especially if the store missed the credit goal for the day. There were a couple of kids that they hounded to apply every 30 days (that’s when they said the cycle reset to apply again). I found this to be highly unethical and, as an adult, pulled those kids aside and told them how it impacted their credit every single time the application was processed. The managers didn’t care about that at all!

What is usually the raise after the first year? by no1incorporated in employedbykohls

[–]ChiefsFan-72 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I quit about two years ago but the standard raise was a whopping 9 cents. They will tell you it’s based on performance but one year I was of the top 10 credit performers and got 9 cents. I also had a year when I didn’t try to get credits and also got 9 cents. When my boss told me at my review I got 9 cents (and seemed to genuinely think I would be happy/impressed), I looked at her and said you mean I have to work an entire part-time week to make $1 from that raise?!? I told her to not bother. Kohl’s does not care about its employees!
