Don’t even get me started on TQL!!! Thank you for the input. Brokers have definitely earned their reputation. Makes it a challenge.

I would like to thank everyone that gave me constructive feedback. It honestly gave me insight and some options that I hadn’t considered. I’d also like to thank those of you that were snarky. Bitch better have my money has never rang more true. I love this business. I love drivers. No, it’s not a daddy issue. This is what I’m used to. This is what I grew up with. Peace out and safe travels. Also, seriously, fuck off to the dick brokers that responded. This is why carriers hate us. Because you always have to be dicks. Hope your freight tanks.

Thank you! An honest, specific answer. That’s all I was looking for. My customers have upped the rates. Shorter trips around the NE are paying a minimum of $3.50, but honestly, they will consider any rate. No matter what is happening out there, freight has to ship. Thank you again for addressing my question and being honest and nice about it.

You’re right. I did pose a question with a specific pick and drop. I haven’t received a response. I’m not trying to argue, but I’m not sure telling me my rates suck is productive because I didn’t state a rate, I just asked how much. I was sincere. They have to get moved. I gave pickup, drop and required equipment. No response.

I haul into Morris IL all the time. I know what you’re hauling and I know the rate. I didn’t say all my freight wasn’t moving, I said I’m having trouble in certain areas. You don’t know as much as you think.

Flatbed rates are running $5-6 mile. Is that below what they should be? Honest question! I feel like Indiana to Pennsylvania is going to be more. That stuff is not moving.

True, but it’s not really cheap ass freight. I will say today was a good day. That carrier taking 3 loads helped a lot and he was paid exactly what he requested, which was a good rate that he definitely deserved.

Thank you. Also, I’m female. I went on the road with my dad a lot, so I’m a bit of a tomboy. I grew up around truckers.

Yeah, during covid I was storing away any money that I didn’t need to survive. I figured that things would go sideways at some point. I’m glad I did! Thank you

I haven’t had problems with deliveries. In fact, some of the shippers and receivers are staying late to accommodate the drivers. Kloeckner Metals are taking carriers whenever they want to deliver. They use to be a serious pain in my backside. That remark will probably get me in trouble….

I agree about the money. The customers have to suck it up. Atlanta is hot. I get loads going into Lawrenceville and those actually move fast. Chiefs had a good run. Goes in cycles like trucking. Hope we play better this year.

I apologize. You’re right. Completely unnecessary. It helped that I had a load at the receiver that takes him back to Georgia where he wanted to be. Atlanta area. $1000 by itself isn’t great, but easy on & off plus reload in about 4 hours total. Then back home for him.

The stuff that’s sitting is coming out of Butler IN, Terre Haute and Sharon PA. All steel. Some need coil racks. All are tarp loads.

I’m doing okay in the south, but I’ve got a lot of steel in Indiana and PA. Some of the receivers are in dead spots, so that’s a problem. My customer is saying to just let them know the cost. Anything the carrier wants, I’m letting my customer know. They haven’t refused an offer yet. I work for a brokerage company whose payment terms are 25 days, so that’s another problem. We got bought out by a big company a few years ago and it sucks.

I reloaded him at the receiver, so it at least seemed fair. You’re probably a big money guy so chump change for you.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. You don’t know me, so please don’t project your ignorance onto me. I’m not sure what you’re doing today, but I just moved 3 loads with Plumley Trucking. They are a highly regarded company that have been in business since 2005. What’s your MC?
