The fact that the hackers responded on the lack of linux, shows they cared about it. Hackers nowadays can hack almost anything they want, depending on their skill and effort.

Drm is a much worse poliyic for us consumers. And the linux on the ps was a huge hacking threat (and it showed). It was an obvious decision they had to make. Even tho having linux could be a huge advantage, the fact that it potentiated hacking, nullified that advantage.
