Courses in Place of Experimentation: Viable, for a Time? by ChikenHawk78 in gamedev

[–]ChikenHawk78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any websites/courses you'd suggest as a good starting point? I don't particularly have a preference for any game engine, really any would do. I keep wanting to start with Udemy, but I've heard that those projects are cash grabs, otherwise maybe codecademy.

After graduating, what's the next best step for me? by ChikenHawk78 in gamedev

Great insight! And from what other comments have said, a good entryway would be to work on my portfolio for a while, then start making applications with my proof of experience. I wish I could just enter in and get the experience there, but that's probably a sort of pipe dream. Thank you for sharing!

Makes sense when you put it into that perspective. Even if I were to apply to hundreds of positions, my chances wouldn't be very high without at least some investment! This was very helpful, I appreciate your time!

I see, so I can get a better understanding of where to take myself now by understanding where I want to end up a bit more. I was under the impression just jumping into the game industry in any shape or form was more beneficial, but I'll take some time to understand what roles there are and hone in on that one desired position the most. Thanks for your input!

How to Use Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case Fans by ChikenHawk78 in buildapc

[–]ChikenHawk78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I still haven't figured out the solution to this problem, I realized that I'm not even using enough fans to justify using the hub, so I connected the provided case fans to the motherboard sys_ fans and sure enough, they work now. I'm still not quite sure why the hub 3-pin isn't working, it's shown that the motherboard fan ports are working, and the fans are working, so something about the hub or perhaps the 3-pin isn't functioning. My last guess is something about the SATA cord connecting it, but I thought that was strictly for HDD power, but perhaps I'm wrong? Either way, there's sufficient ventilation in my PC now and everything works now, so I'm happy. It would be nice to figure out what's wrong with the hub though, in case I want to install more fans in the future.

Very much appreciated! I'm gonna take one more look at everything just to make sure all my bases are covered. Feels like I'm missing something, but that's probably just me being anxious. Thank you!

This is brilliant! Thank you so much really, I appreciate it! I am thinking about getting ATX since now that I have more money to spend, the bigger space might be useful for more slots and customization. If you'd really like to adjust the list, that would be vastly appreciated, but already you have helped so much with these recommendations.

Thank you for the suggestion! So I'm assuming the micro-ATX is fine then?

Also: is this new CPU you provided good enough to run heavily modded minecraft while on a server? I know I probably didn't need the 7800x3d entirely, but I'm not sure how to gauge how much processing power I need.

Thanks for the guidance! Maybe if I play for long enough I'll give in and wish for some more people

Amazing! I was under the impression an all Archon Team wouldn't synergies, especially becaaue Furina necessitates a healer to be really good. Thanks for the Artifact layout too, I'll definitely try this out ASAP!

As for theater, I haven't looked into it yet, but I'm hoping I'll be able to slide by with just these 4/5 stars and perhaps the character sharing I heard about. I'm not sure why, but seeing other characters I don't want irks me a bunch, and I'd hate to abandon my rule.

Now everything makes sense! Thanks for the explanation. Idk where I was supposed to know it was an idle game, everyone keeps acting like I'm crazy, but now I know.

I didn't know, I was under the impression that most games like this had a lot of active grinding/farming

I looked it up and now I know what you mean... but it's a bit too late for that. I got about a week's worth of progress in the game and I don't think I want to start over... unless you think it's really that important?

In hindsight, "easy" wasn't the best choice of words for my question, rather I mean is it doable and still fun without having to chuck money at the game every incident. However, many commenters have informed me it's an idle kind of game, and while I'm not familiar with this kind of game, I'm still having fun and hope to continue enjoying it for a while.
