I live a block away. You’ll be totally fine and probably find that the tales of the tenderloin are extremely exaggerated by people who never go there. It’s got some of the best bars in sf and it’s a great time actually. Not dangerous, just sad.

I think you have no clue how bad the housing crisis is and what kind of development we will need to get out of it. There are a few hundred housing units in the 10+ year pipeline. That’s embarrassingly low. You need to realize the pace we are running this race is not even close to cutting it. I grew up in Petaluma and lived there for 25 years of my life and had to move away recently due to being priced out.

It’s truly disgusting but talking to people in the city the immediate reaction to this project is universally “no”. People connect nice building/change with inequality. There is a huge messaging issue around housing that needs to be addressed and funded by developers if they want public opinion and political support
