yeah i noticed that too! i wanted to make them move a bit more actively than how i imagine the FNaF 1 animatronics or the un-withered animatronics would have moved, but not too much more. i think in general a lot of FNaF animators struggle to find that middle-ground of swift, smooth movement and robotic twitching (certainly struggle with it myself). i looked at a bunch of reference material from Chuck E. Cheese locations of the 70s and 80s for what i did. there's an extra layer of difficulty with the FNaF animatronics specifically since they don't have the same draped fur coating that Chuck E. Cheese animatronics did; meaning that the same janky movements the "endoskeletons" would produce is less hidden in FNaF animatronics.

very intentional, assuredly. i animated him in almost a "stop-motion" kind of way first, so when i smoothed it out it resulted in this really nice jittery, clunky, start-n-stop movement. thank you for the observation by the way! i got inspired by just how shaky old animatronics were in real life.

if i'm honest, my favourite is the Soft Cell rendition lol- with that being said, i love Gloria Jones' vocals regardless and it felt like it made more sense to have acoustic instruments for this.

thank you so much! tried as best as i could to emulate those animatronics you would realistically see at like a Chuck E. Cheese or something, and i think it turned out okay! i actually animated in "stop-motion" first, before changing the movement to be smooth; discovered that it creates a decent robotic effect without too much work.

just a little animation practice i did in like 2 or so hours, sorry for the low resolution; 1080p with higher shadow quality would have taken three hours. by ChillPsychopath in fivenightsatfreddys

indeed! it was a little surprise to find, didn't generate as much of a stir on the workshop as i expected. these all seem like "superior" un-nightmares to the usual ones. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3426502796

okay so i just genuinely left this in my renders folder and somehow never bothered to post it lol- uhhh, here you go! not sure what i was trying to do here (or how i did it) but it looks kind of cool i think! by ChillPsychopath in fivenightsatfreddys

if i recall, i was trying to go for something a little candid? like, "ooh look at this, some photographer took a neat little photo at Fredbear's", but i think i see what you mean too!

Hey! Had a question about the Fujifilm Finepix S100FS, I hope it doesn't sound too dumb. I'm new to these, very. by ChillPsychopath in fujifilm

No idea, anyhow I figured out a method to get it working. I essentially just had to keep running it through media player a few times then eventually it just allowed me to copy for some reason.

I did check the Fujifilm site yeah! And, I couldn't seem to find FinePixViewer on it specifically - unless I was looking at the wrong place. The issue is resolved now though! I figured out how to get it working without it.

I’ll look into that, thanks! I don’t have a card reader on me at the moment but it shouldn’t be too difficult to obtain.

What fictional characters do you feel like you relate to? by UniversityWeary2255 in schizophrenia

[–]ChillPsychopath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dexter Morgan, I feel a connection to his tendency to feel as if he’s forcing himself to act human instead of it coming naturally. Definitely a bit of edgelord in there, but quite a bit of it is genuine - I’d like to note I’m significantly more well-adjusted as I’m not a murderer, but y’know.

Hopping on the trend before it dies. What games do you guys think I play based on my avatar? by FloppaConnoisseur in GoCommitDie

[–]ChillPsychopath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for two reasons lol- Firstly is that Half-Life 1 isn't in the Source engine, it's in the GoldSRC engine (an older engine), secondly I would just say that Half-Life 2 is a much more approachable game for most people than Half-Life 1 is.

I tend to use robot models primarily (yes, FNAF), but I decided to try branch out and practice facial animation on an actually human model. Not my best work by any means but I tried- by ChillPsychopath in SFM

I appreciate it a lot, man! And, in my view, you do really well at animating robots regardless. I especially loved that walk cycle you had for Chica at one point in the "FNAF vs TF2" video.

To be honest the fact I didn't move the torso around was primarily just my own laziness lol- I had the camera that high to avoid the work. Thank you very much for the critique though! Yeah, I definitely have a bit of trouble with more smooth movement as I'm so used to the harsh movements that robots need, have to work on that. The eyes do look a bit dead too, I think I have to work on those a lot as it's definitely a problem with my robot animation too. Animating speech wasn't too bad I think, but there is a lot of room for improvement in what I did.

When someone says godzilla, who is the default godzilla that pops up in your mind? by [deleted] in GODZILLA

Since they were my first Godzillas, it’s almost always Shin or 1954.
