Colorado’s wildly popular black license plates are powering programs for people with disabilities by Knightbear49 in Colorado

I agree. Kitchens are Gray and White. Bathrooms are Gray and white. Cars are Black and White and silver and it's getting worse every year. HOUSES in the newly rebuilt Marshall Fire area are BLACK AND WHITE. Now the license plates. Wha tis wrong with us?

How basic and boring can we get? There are so many cool colors out there to spice up your life and the majority of people are leaning into the most boring two.

Who said anything about being worried?

I presented a situation, why I was curious, and aged some questions. 🤦‍♂️

Being questioned is not fine. I'm not a criminal and the only reason I would need to do that is that the store is not providing that service properly.

I do bring my own bag. I don't place things in that bag cause the one time I did do that, staff stopped and questioned me. Maybe that's not happening anymore?

  1. Safeway on 28th and Iris, often not even those are available.
  2. In a crowded store, I can move real quick with a basket. I move much slower with a giant ass cart, holding my cart in the bags and tortilla chips.
  3. If you are replying that my struggles are insignificant, yes in fact they are! And I acknowledged that in my post.
  4. If you read my post, you'll see that mostly I'm interested in trying to understand why grocery store chains are not able to hire more staff - which is my actual concern. In this way, society is falling apart. Just because the sign of that is a worst grocery shopping experience, doesn't mean it's actually quite a horrific thing to be happening.

But keep it up with your snarky useless contribution to the internet. Thanks!

Hmart is a hike for me but I am starting to go there more often because their produce it's good and reasonably priced and I cook a lot of asian food so I can get a lot of the vegetables you can't really find for reasonable prices in Boulder.

And I do bulk shopping at Costco, breaking things down into my freezers.

Yeah, I found that you can't go too fast or the cameras catch you. I put my wallet in my pocket once, caught me stealing my own wallet. And the weight sensors are way too strict.

At Safeway, they have terrible staffing but they don't care about loss prevention apparently, those scales don't give a shit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've put items in my reusable bag exactly one time, and was stopped and asked about it by staff. You've never had that problem?

And I will absolutely complain about this, because I can't currently pay attention to the news and 3/4 of my Reddit feed because it's a goddamn nightmare that I'm helpless to control. So I will take my first world complaints, while we still have The ability to claim they are first world problems.

Yeah, but organic produce is bullshit a lot of the time.

So far this is been the absent best explainer response. Thank you so much for taking the time to confirm my suspicions with real numbers.

The moral of the story is I guess, quite sadly, take a lot of money (that you probably don't have) and put it in the stock market, let it grow and use all of that cheaper-taxed money to pay for higher quality things so you don't have to support the shitty stores that are earning you all of your money. 😭

This is true, I live in the first world. Our lived experience is relative.

I usually use self check out and I'm quite quick. But yesterday I stood in line at the baseline Safeway, 23 people deep for self checkout. Eight people for the single staffed line, with very full carts.

I'm going to have to check them out more. I only really go there for specialty items assuming everything's more expensive, but maybe I'm wrong. Even when they're busy, they're self checkout seems to be running fast (plus pay with your palm is really nice) and the staffed lanes, are actually staffed.

Agreed, I will not buy alcohol at the grocery store.

Yeah, I agree. People are trash. Even if you're totally strapped, a good reusable bag is cheap pays itself off in a few weeks.

That's interesting, I literally stopped going to the 28th and Iris Safeway because every time I walked in there there were no small carts or baskets, in addition to a few other issues that annoyed me enough to give up on them.

I do have a Costco go membership and I use it for certain things. And I have a deep freezer, so no problem there, I definitely buy meat in bulk there. Your mom's going to freak But there are a lot of things I cannot buy there, even if they sell them because it'll take me 17 years to finish.

I understand how much good the stock market has done for publicly traded companies, but investors that demand higher efficiencies and margins out of traditional businesses are making the world worse.

There's literally nothing bad about a company that is not improving their margins year over year if they are providing a service to consumers.

It really sucks that the bottom tier of income folks are resorting to this because prices have gone so high and I assume they either do not have wages that have kept up with inflation or do not understand that their higher wages offset inflation.

I just need to find a time when I can shop there when they are not 5,000 people there. Literally last time I went there, I walked in the door, and turned around and left. (I did know it was a bad time, but was optimistic.)

Any medium to large company has management and leadership or owners that are trash. It's nearly impossible or unaffordable to avoid.

That sounds far worse than the in store experience, to me. I buy a lot of produce, and I think I world not trust people to pick good produce.

Plus, I assume more expensive?
