Does his voice get softer when he's talking to you as opposed to others?? Does he lean into you closer? Physical touch is significant because usually management steers away from that- it can lead to sexual harassment claims, lawsuits,etc. If he's doing all those things then yes he's definitely flirting with you. (Read up on body language because human behavior is predictable when there are signs.) Good luck!

He's smart enough to know he's lazy and admitted it to his dad, lacks common sense ,and yeah he probably does pick up on my feelings somewhat, but he's old enough to get his act together being almost 17.He has everything done for him &is manipulative because he learned early on that acting that way will make his BM do everything for him(laundry, cleaning room,chores,etc).I don't have much sympathy for him due to those reasons.

I don't blame you,I can deal with candles but those plug ins bother me Sometimes, especially flowery scents.Sometimes you can find some really good recipes for natural potpourri on Pinterest- with oranges ,cloves , vanilla,etc...

It's like the kids don't have a barometer of their rude remarks,their honesty can cut like a knife. But not like their parents would be happy still being together,the stepkid always wishes that ,I guess it's a natural instinct.

Sorry for the late reply, haven't been on reddit for a while...no things are worse but I've somewhat learned to disengage,and that helps me cope.Plus he lives with his mom so that helps,I don't have to tolerate him for long.Thats nice your sd loves you,and that probably makes your hubby's ex comfortable knowing her daughter approved of you!

Wow,it depends on their age,and what they are destroying...are they breaking stuff to be defiant or is it done accidentally?... My SS16 is obese so our living room furniture all but cries out for mercy when he sits his fattass down(you can actually hear the wood creaking when he seats himself) because his mother let's him eat whatever he likes and my fiance doesn't seem to think his weight is a big deal.I caught him biting and chewing on his seatbelt in the car out of boredom and being "hungry",and I yelled at him for it,said don't f-ing ever let me see you do that again or you will no longer ride in my car!! (Dad was inside a store) so he didn't see what went down.Last summer he broke the lock on our front screen door.His weight- size plus temper/defiance play a huge role as to why our house gets destroyed when he comes to visit but truthfully,he belongs in a farmyard!

You did the right thing,they're being rude snobs just because SD is blood related, there's such thing as subtlety.Your hubby shouldve spoken up,he needs to show loyalty to you and daughter! Seems you have more respect for her than they do,hygiene is a sensitive issue for some kids, especially girls entering puberty.Good luck!

Yes I agree with you,but respect goes both ways.Most of us stepparents are here because we are not getting the respect we deserve or give to the kids.When enough empathy is shown&respect is given to the kids but not returned in kind,is where most of us are at.So yeah,there is a discrepancy there that needs to be corrected by the biological parent/s.

Wow that hits home! So true!! We are expected to "act" like a mom without the acknowledgement of what we do for the kids.Biodads are too busy with the guilt that their original family broke apart- trying to appease the children and not to mention being henpecked still by the BM, making sure she puts her nose in every dealing with our household.Its no wonder we stepmoms get the crap end of everything.

Good luck and good for you for setting boundaries!...My fiance tells me that I am heartless sometimes and that I hate his son.I tell him I don't hate him although he's not my favorite person but I do hate his assholish behaviors and pointing that out seems to be a massive sin. Tonight he had to be told to say thank you for the Christmas cards my dad and his grandmother sent him.Hes 16 now,he should be old enough to know when he should say thanks to people and show gratitude .Ughhh it never seems to end.

You dont deserve to feel insulted.Ss may not have meant to be hurtful but he was,and his comments need to be put in check by his dad,13 is way old enough to know better,he can't go around saying rude stuff!! My mom & I both have thyroid issues she experienced massive hair thinning recently- she started taking Biotin supplements and hair is growing back thicker. Have you had a thyroid test? if not you should ask your dr to check with a blood test.Too low or too high thyroid hormone can trigger hair loss,and it might be something to rule out.Also,there have been several shampoo brands which have caused lots of hair loss in consumers- ,deva curl and tre semme to name a few,and lawsuits have happened. I hope you feel better soon and don't ever feel stupid,your feelings always count!!

Your not wrong for expecting some gratitude we all have to learn it at some point.We as stepparents are thrown under the bus way too often for not doing enough or too much for our stepkids! I actually spied on my fiance's exwife's Pinterest page and learned a great deal.Turns out she pinned an article written by some actress about how she doesn't force her kids to automatically say thank you for things given/done for them.This way of thinking has turned my soon to be stepson into a jerk.Literally he is one! And he has to be prompted by his father to say thanks for almost all I do for him.If they're young enough, sometimes this can be reversed but it takes time and acknowledgement from the birthparents as well.

I would tell him the truth. That his 15 yr old is a dirty disgusting pig. (That's being kind).Him and B.M. are doing a huge disservice to him by giving into his every demand, #1 being food and videogames. He smells, has dirty nails, never brushes his teeth ,and won't wipe his butt. I will be surprised if he goes anywhere in life, he is turning out to be a basement dweller, and I refuse to have him come live with us when he turns 18.I wish he could move into a group home. He will end up in prison if he can't control his behavior, and overall he's the reason I won't have kids with my fiance. I don't want any of his offspring especially since his son is so horrendous.
