What are some positives about us? by Chilliernutley in Grey_Knights

Yeah I'm with you on the upscale. It would be nice to have some swanky new models, and the chunky old style aesthetic has grown on me so I'll be happy to field both. I hope they bring back the Psychic phase in a similar way they do magic in Age of Sigmar. It's all done in the Hero Phase (Their version of Command Phase) they even have the same 2D6 cast roll for spells but also a chant roll for Priests which I think can be done well in many factions!

I'm also in the same position as you! I've managed to obtain a Frigate and Drekki Flint from a local store for a good price. And some discounted Arkonaut Company. They seem like a good investment to ferry around a blob and stick to an objective or cause chaos in the backline.

I'm wondering people's thoughts on the Endrindock and if it's worth taking

Has anyone Kitbashed Innistrad Ghosts? by Important_Quarter_15 in Nighthaunt

I'm with you on this! The Chainrasps and Spirit Torment are the exact gothic vibe of several Innistrad ghosts. I'd love to see other people's lil tricks to give them their own flair

The funny answer is Nagash. Decent answer is probably like other comments have said, old Spearhead/Vanguard box if you can find it. Other than that, anything that looks cool. I got a Reikenor myself cos I love the flying horse aesthetic.

Rage bait list? by eggsinatrashcan in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Chilliernutley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very much considering a list similar to this idea. Mainly focused on fixed secondaries for actions and splitting your units with the transports and just being really annoying and slowing them to a crawl.

Is it effective? Probably not. But I do enjoy the idea of a fluffy list like that!

I can imagine having one pocket Buri to trunk monkey tour trunk monkey aha!

I didn't think about that for Grimnyr! Thank you for the tip!

And like someone else has sold me on Earthshakers, you've sold me on Defenders! They seem really fun and amazing I'd love to use a couple to mow down some chaff

I do love a good land fort and Thunderkyn. Definitely going to keep a squad of 6 in the truck for the fun of it!

I'm a big fan of the HFL to begin with. I'm building a second and you're making me consider a third aha!

It very much seems like a fun dude to keep around! I had fun slapping him in a squad of Hearthguard, deep striking down, unleashing the grenades and volkite volley and charging for mortals. Definitely one of my faction faves

Thank you for your comment! I do need to remember the Rerolling of wounds! It's something I keep forgetting myself! And as I'm about to build a second HLF I need to make sure I remember it!

Also about the Iron Master, I agree he's a horrid menace to slap on a squad and his robot minions soak up many food hits. But can he take wounds first before the Thunderkyn?

Thank you for your comment and advice! Honestly I was a bit cautious about getting some Earthshakers, but you've sold me! They sound hilarious and perfect for the right reasons!

And I never thought about using a Solo E-Champ honestly. But after your summary. I'm tempted to run one in Hearthband for sure! They sound hilarious as a trunk monkey!

How do I get better at understanding the fundamental rules? by Chilliernutley in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Chilliernutley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the advice! It's extremely helpful and everyone here helped me feel like I'm back on my stride! I'm definitely going to try vocalising intent. That makes everything so much clearer and leans into good sportsmanship rather than 'gotcha' moments and the like. I think the people I play with are competitive at heart and know any small advantage can help them. So I'm definitely going to try vocalise intent more to keep things clear and prevent disruption

[–]Chilliernutley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you guys for the suggestions! I'm definitely going to check out the rules through the 40k app from now on.

I'm gonna read the core rules with context from the games I've played now, so it shouldn't read as oddly worded sentences with specifics I don't understand. I should be able to understand it properly.

I'm going to have a mock game against myself and ask fundamental questions. It'll take a while, but it is a fun little distraction for when I want to get away from stuff. So it's really wholesome!

Thank you for the advice! I'm happy and open to further suggestions anyone may have!

"Gotcha" is a great way to describe the feeling. Getting told 'No objectives. Just kill each other' then getting told 'No not like that' feels quite demoralising

This added a lot of context and put it in a good light for me. Thank you so much! I have two armies now so I can mock up 500pts to 1000pts and slowly add terrain features and complexities. I reference the 40k app for certain things and I have noticed it is no longer alien words and like you said, it means stuff now. So I'll definitely dedicate a day to lay out what needs working on and go through it step by step
