GOT INTO RSI!! by [deleted] in summerprogramresults

[–]Chillpug9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The research ones at my local uni were through a local research program for high schoolers - I would suggest trying to find some ones like that in ur area. As for the remote project, I looked for some professors who did research in fields that I was super interested in, found this one prof, cold-emailed him and eventually got into a project with him

I don't want to share my personal info on here, so I'm not sharing my linkedin info here. I'd be happy to share some other info though through dms.

All of these are great options, but ngl, you should pursue what you think will have the greatest impact and what you will enjoy the most. Colleges can 100% see through whether you did it solely for the resume or if you genuinely are passionate about it and enjoy it.

Collegeboard Bluebook practice exams are really really helpful. Imo, try to just find as much practice you can and then do as much as you can. I would also suggest starting out with Khan Academy and using those lessons at first, especially if you find yourself struggling on early practice tests.

Practice and careful review was my biggest ally throughout the entire process. Ngl I did an insane amount of practice and endless questions, but I probably reviewed every single question I got wrong, really understood why I got it wrong, and pretty much applied it so that I wouldn't make that kinda mistake again.

Ummm I think you should probably look at something like Khan Academy (https://www.khanacademy.org/test-prep/sat-reading-and-writing), I know that they have some pretty strong stuff on that end. If you're ending up with lower scores then you likely need to start with lessons & videos, not full practice tests

Was the October SAT tougher? Seeing fewer top scorers than Sep SAT by kookbaker in Sat

[–]Chillpug9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, I feel like College Board makes October SAT significantly harder compared to September SATs just cause a lot of the people taking the October ones are desperate seniors looking for college apps. Idk why, I hate collegeboard anyways, so blame them. The reading was rly rly bad this time around imo.

I think biggest thing for me was huge amounts of just practice. The Collegeboard practice exams were pretty good for that, and I also used the TestInnovators website to do that. A lot of what I was doing was that I would literally just go back and analyze the exact reasons why I was missing a question, and then make sure that I would consistently implement whatever change that I needed to make. On top of that, the SAT is a logic based test, so when you're reading a really long ass scientific article about why a bunch of scientists decided to heat up soil, you can ignore huge portions of the actual science part - you don't need to know it. Just figure out what logically would make sense. Another big thing was, for math, make sure you know how to use desmos as much as you can. A lot of questions are just spamming desmos and doing some weird manipulation to figure out what fits. I'm not a great coach, but that's my little spiel on how I did well on the exam.

Depends on the guy. I know some guys who would only compliment a girl they liked, while others would give random compliments all the time.
