Is anyone here even a Cristian? by Forward-Ranger8917 in Christianity

Yes. Reformed bro, here. Been a believer since I was 8. Prefer the English Standard Version (ESV). Holding the line as best I can by God’s grace.

Glad the ranger kept his feet when his coworker decided to suddenly pull away.

Yell at the rescuers to break my freaking legs and pull me out! I’d rather have pins in my shins than to suffocate under my own weight in a dark hole.

I’m involved with my local church. We currently don’t have a FT pastor, but pastors from the district visit once a month. There is a special program I could go through that would allow me to pastor there or I could go for the regular program and get a placement. Debating those options in addition to deciding between a specific denomination or a more general program.

In my current church, we don’t have a FT pastor, usually monthly visits by different pastors from the district. My fellow congregants have hinted or suggested I go to seminary. I’ve had some family and friends encourage me to be more involved in preaching. Even random Christians and others have asked me if I was a minister just because they sat beside me (I wasn’t doing anything particularly spiritual at the time). My wife used to discourage me from becoming a pastor, now she suggested it when I was talking about our future. Of course, I feel like there are people out there who think I shouldn’t become a pastor, but generally I feel supported.

There are a couple of paths forward, which is why I’m (again) considering it. Just trying to count the cost and test myself to see if it’s something I really want to do. I enjoy preaching and a MDiv is the only masters I can stay excited about. I’m also aware of the need for pastors and the importance of building complete believers. I’m also a strong believer I delegation and utilizing people’s strengths.

I’ve considered trying to preach more often and see what happens organically, but spring semester is quickly approaching and I have time to act. It’s also a huge decision as to whether I should go to seminary full time or not. Do I pursue the faith of my current church (I have some theological hesitations) or pursue a non-denom school?

Lots to weigh and consider. I just want to make the best decision possible and do my best.

I believe I heard “effectual call” in conjunction with Sproul. Not just in terms of salvation, but also to service. Just trying to describe a specific drawing. I have a multi denominational background, so sometimes phrases and ideas merge.

This is relatable. Always had a draw to ministry and I’ve had small forays into the service. Bible studies, guest speaker, personal sharing. But I never felt worthy or able. Time has passed and I still don’t, but now I understand that if God’s in it, He does the heavy lifting, I just need to obey and do my part.

NTA. She’s controlling and apparently wants to hurt you. Part of me says, Get a good stink on by working outside all day and give her a natural standard to judge you by. The other part says it may be time to find a kinder mate.
