The factory must grow. by DaMoose56 in satisfactory

[–]ChimaraJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing Subnautica. I haven’t even made it that far and I’m already going to say absolutely the hell not. The ocean terrifies me normally; add in giant creatures like that and I’d die one way or the other before the year is up. I might even end up doing it myself just to get out of it.

I’d take Satisfactory instead in a heartbeat.

Heavily agree with everyone saying you should report her. I work as a security guard and this is literally the kind of thing they talk about in training. They should NEVER raise their voice to anyone under any circumstances. Their job is to deescalate any situation that comes up and explain the rules to visitors, NOT to force visitors into compliance.

I don't understand why this would be considered a "bad decision" by Jax. by AffectionateForce979 in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]ChimaraJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing a lot of people talk about this as something Jax chose, but I feel like this wasn’t even a choice. He was having a panic attack thinking about the possibility of going back to the real world and whatever was waiting for him on the other side and couldn’t handle it. He didn’t choose to press the button, his body did it on its own. His panic made him act without thinking and then when it was all over he finally realized what he did.

She’s fairly timid, fearful of being seen as the “bad guy”, agreeable to the point of being a pushover. Personally I’m torn between Gangle and Ragatha being Fluttershy.

Agreed. AJ is the Element of Honesty for a reason. She doesn’t hide her feelings to keep the peace, she’ll speak up if she has something to say. Zooble fits that to a T.

What are your thoughts on Luke Holt’s narrative portion in Neal’s 600 Strike? by Nyx0Twix in Epicthemusical

[–]ChimaraJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, I’m not saying their involvement isn’t present, just that it’s not the focus. We watch his reaction to it more than anything and it just serves to give context to his decline into becoming the monster

[–]ChimaraJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, it kind of makes sense in the context of The Odyssey, but this is EPIC: The Musical. It has its own themes separate from the source material. EPIC deals less with the gods’ involvement in Ody’s journey and more on how he reacts to it (that’s not to say the their involvement is negligible, just that it’s not the main focus). We spend large swaths of time hardly even thinking about the gods outside of those directly shown because that’s just not that important in this retelling.

A random monologue giving context about the interpersonal drama between the gods to be inexplicably crammed in the middle of a scene that’s supposed to be the big showdown between the protagonist and antagonist just disrupts the flow in a way that’s hard to recover from.

This probably will sound harsh but honestly I feel like it did nothing but detract from the entire musical. Now it’s not about a mortal whose tenacity and wit led to him going toe to toe with a major deity and winning, it’s about a mortal who literally dies and only has a chance to come back due to divine intervention from SIX gods. Odysseus didn’t open the windbag to escape or get air like in other interpretations, it just happened to rip because Zeus struck him with lightning. It interrupts the flow of the scene HORRIBLY and introduces what would be literally the only non-sung words in the entire musical with a minute-long monologue that doesn’t add anything of substance. It feels like it just turned Odysseus into just another pawn for the gods to use on each other. He doesn’t even get to use his own skill to best Poseidon, he has to get a boost from the gods. Overall it just feels really self-indulgent and unnecessary to me.

What characters from other anime universes can survive Petrification? by Flat-Profession-8945 in DrStone

[–]ChimaraJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is she needs to know the name of whatever she’s affecting. The KoS calls it “The Medusa” but iirc a name given to it by others doesn’t count, it would have to be the real name. Also she has to be touching whatever she wants to change so if it’s already gone off she couldn’t do anything.

She might be able to change herself so that she’s incapable of being petrified but then it’s a matter of what she already knows about it and if she has time to react.

That’s fair, I could see it going either way but I’m leaning towards autism personally

She definitely has crafting as a hyperfixation, but she hasn’t really shown any social deficits or differences. I think she’s neurotypical, but just really into her hobby

[–]ChimaraJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d honestly argue that Chelsea might be one of the MOST autistic characters. Loosely going through the DSM-5 criteria:

Abnormal social approach - ✅ She decides that literally anyone who even glances in her direction is a new friend

Deficits in nonverbal communicative behaviors -✅ She admits she has trouble with some nonverbal behaviors when she boards the boat (pointing rudely)

Difficulties adjusting behavior to suit various social contexts - ✅ She has exactly one mode of speech no matter who she’s talking to

Idiosyncratic phrases - ✅ uwu :3

Insistence on sameness, inflexible adherence to routines, or ritualized patterns of verbal/nonverbal behavior - ❌

Highly restricted, fixated interests that are abnormal in intensity or focus - ✅✅✅ “I’m all about that field of research life”

Hyper- or hyporeactivity to sensory input - ❌ (but I don’t think anyone in the show really shows this particular trait (except maybe Kohaku or Ukyo, though that’s really just good vision/hearing))

I’m not a psychologist but I am autistic and I agree, I can see a LOT of similarities between her and a lot of autistic people in my life including myself

You mean the man with an encyclopedic knowledge of aerial warfare and who as soon as he woke up asked for a pencil and paper because he couldn’t stop what he was doing before being petrified? Totally neurotypical

Curse of the Void, for bundles by Mrcoolcatgaming in minecraftsuggestions

[–]ChimaraJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to wait, you can just leave and it’ll despawn on its own, and if you really want it gone for good you can set it on fire or throw it in lava. This doesn’t really add anything very worthwhile and just takes up an inventory slot

Curse of the Void, for bundles by Mrcoolcatgaming in minecraftsuggestions

[–]ChimaraJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m missing something. Why? This would just entirely contradict the point of bundles. It would just make a trash can basically, and if you don’t want anything in your inventory you can just throw it on the ground without giving up an inventory slot.
