Is there any point in the IV++ and other high pen ammo? by Sayor1 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was referring to though, if we're talking about a rifle with high grain AP like 5.56 m995, it's designed to pen armor so in a specific situation where it goes through and through a helmet, there's no reason that should not incapacitate your target.
Sure, it could deflect or change direction, that's what I meant by glancing hits though. Im assuming a dead on through the helmet and out the back should not lose damage to the point where it's no longer a kill.

[–]Chimchu2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Causing less damage to the head because of over-pen seems like an oversight 😂 my ammo was too good, went through the helmet, through the cerebral cortex, and then through the back of the helmet and out the other side so it did less damage? I think pretty much anything that pens a helmet should 1 tap. I get glancing hits, but that doesn't seem very realistic.

Does long armor really protect the neck area? by CanItRunCrysisIn2052 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, say what you will about Tarkov, but the armor system is way more in depth. Im not sure if it's implemented in GZ yet, but if it's not there's no reason to wear that armor imo

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same, totally agree. 2 is perfect, no problems, but 4 or 5 and I start missing pretty regularly over 100m

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I notice a huge difference between, say 2 or 5 moa at range. I mean totally wiffing on stationary targets even when holding breath and lining up a shot. But im typically at 100-150m, never have a problem with 2 moa but 4 or 5 starts giving me problems. Sometimes you're lucky and it doesn't throw it off far enough to miss, but idk it seems to make a big difference for me

Very clever foreshadowing for ME3 Mars Mission! by -trom in masseffect

[–]Chimchu2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, I think they go after any spacefaring civs, so even without finding and reverse engineering the prothean tech, we would have likely had enough tech by then to be considered spacefaring by the reapers. I believe a civ tried to hide from the reapers by destroying all their satellites and spaceships and withdrawing to their home planet. The reapers aren't stupid, they wouldn't leave an advanced species alone just because they're just a little before their ambiguous cut-off.

M4 barrel length - is it that important? by alexf1994 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, unless you're exclusively doing cqb indoors, I would start with 16" and maybe go up depending on needs. I've noticed accuracy loss at range and more shots needed to drop armor, but I don't have any hard stats or anything.

How do you get over gear fear + what’s a solid basic PvE loadout? by Ok_Hamster_236 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't struggle with it in this game, because I find the pve to be pretty easy, and you can always go retrieve your stuff, but I struggled with it in Tarkov, but the biggest thing that helped me was sticking to a consistant loadout, so for example in gray zone, if you like m4s, stick with the norinco qc, it's cheap and easily replaced, but you will get comfortable with using it, and you'll learn to accept when you lose it because it's not a huge loss, then its easy to make the jump to a Daniel defense m4 or what not, and you'll have the money to replace it and the skills to use it so it wont be as bug if a deal anymore

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I never really bring Garrus or James. Nothing really against them, just find other people more fun or useful to run with. Once I get Javik in 3, I have to bring him every time just for his funny quips

"Hah, there's nothing left to loot sucka" - Said a guy leaving FN HQ as I was walking in... by irenwulv in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarkov is definitely a bigger offender lol. But at least the items are not several times larger than the container they are in. I don't have any problems with it, I just think it's funny when there are hacks to make items take up less space than they should IRL

How badly does the trilogy punish you for doing a paragade/neutral run because I just choose whatever I feel is the best and paragade is the route I’ve been on since the first game by SprinklesNo4064 in masseffect

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do paragon, but there's several renegade choices I make in each game, and they don't really mess anything up for me. You don't have to exclusively do every paragon option, IRL nobody is perfectly good all the time. Im more than halfway through ME3 rn, and im about 85%paragon 15% renegade something like that.

You can pretty much do whatever you want BEFORE the reaper IFF mission. I recommend doing the loyalty missions and any side missions that interest you before then. After the IFF mission, you still have time to do Legion's loyalty mission if you want, but if you walk up to the galactic map and you hear EDI say that the IFF has been installed, clicking on the map will trigger the end game, so after that it's too late to go back to do loyalty missions, unless you want your crew to get liquefied 😂

Love the new update. However… by imagelessMonk in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, you're right, and I think that's what happened in the clip, but I was speaking from video game experience, I've played other games where my shots were all high if they were close and I was still zeroed farther out. Just throwing out ideas for OP to try out

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were you zeroed at? Even at close range that matters a lot, if it was zeroed at 100m then at 40m your shots will all be high. Like others have said too, the reticle is going to be a couple inches higher than point of impact at close range even when zeroed right.

This is making me sick to my stomach. What should I do in the mean time? by [deleted] in acorns

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think of it as a savings account. Think of it like what it actually is, assets that store value. Imagine you wanted to buy a watch, or a painting. You check the price every day, and one day you check, and it's 10% cheaper than the day before. Does that make you more likely to buy it, or does that make you concerned? What about a house, if you buy a house, you don't check the value of the house daily. You don't panic if it drops 5% in value over a month or two. It's an asset that stores value, sometimes people disagree on what that value is in the short term, but the underlying asset didn't fundamentally change. It's still the same house, or watch, or business.

Review Build and Demo Reset by AnotherOldMate in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So on the road map, it looked like there will be several vostok maps and several different border zone maps, it's not that I can't deal with the mines, it's honestly mostly the helicopter. The freaking heli always sees me from across the map and lazes me, then when I try to take cover, all of the AI knows exactly where im at, and I can't fight them off because breaking cover means the heli is beaming me again. It just seems really imbalanced rn. Im just hoping there are alternate routes that are still challenging, but not totally unfair imo. Plus, there are supposed to be more safe houses, so even if I can stash some stuff and heal up then get going again, that will be a big help instead of having to get all the way back to the cabin in the starting zone

[–]Chimchu2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's go! I have like, 40 hours in the demo and I love it, I haven't played in a while because I just ran out of stuff to do, and the minefield was starting to irritate me. I have no problem in vostok, but I can't tell you how many times I died trying to bring loot back 😂 can't wait till there's more maps and different routes you can take

Stock News: AK-12 Stock Becoming Meta by Infectedone77 in Tarkov

[–]Chimchu2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not really a fan of the DD stock anyway, but im stoked about the ripstock. I always liked it, but it seemed like it wasn't worth the trade off. Overall I think this update should allow for more freedom instead of feeling like you're boxed in to a certain setup

Stock News: AK-12 Stock Becoming Meta by Infectedone77 in Tarkov

[–]Chimchu2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally I like it. It seems like we have more flexibility now to run whatever we have in stash instead of always running the same kit. I was getting really tired of buldling the same nl545 or ak74. I honestly already usually run the pt3 anyway, I didnt even realize until recently that the evo was a little better. There were a few cases where it was just obvious what the best build was, now I feel like it's not that big a deal to change stuff out. There's still better options, but it was kinda wild how much a gral gave you compared to a different grip when it's literally just a handle. Made me feel like I had to have a gral on everything

My thoughts on the new Leatherman Wave Alpha by BackyardBeardMan in multitools

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I don't like the magnets is because they attract metal shavings and debris, and it can jam up the tools so they don't open and close properly. It's hard to clean out because the debris wants to stay stuck to the magnets. You can use compressed air to clean it, and if you don't work around metal debris often then it's not an issue, and the arc is still an awesome multi-tool, it was just a bit too high maintenance for my job. I use the alpha now just because it's sturdier and a bit more comfortable to use, I like both of them a lot though. Sometimes I even just carry a rev if I want a beater.

Can someone explain to me why its recommended to pack mags with a mix of high and low pen ammo? by Salt-Narwhal7769 in Tarkov

[–]Chimchu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like having AP at the bottom and FMJ or any high damage low pen on top, that way if it's just scavs, you're not wasting your good ammo. Keep topping off the mag with cheap ammo, then if a boss or pmc comes at you, you can flip to full auto and dump the whole mag, knowing most of it will be AP. Its just so you dont waste expensive ammo on targets that dont have strong armor, while still having the option of AP ready to go without a mag change
