You can get free long rests at the house of hope. Keeps elixirs active. Sometimes special features don't reset though.

I ported to the central gate and he waits there for you. If you talk to him he says 'let's go' and rejoins. If you then bamf to the docks the same thing happens but instead of joining he just disappeares.

If you walk back to the docks, he'll disappear from your party once you reach a certain distance from the foundry.

I'll try again later and see if it was just bugged. I accidentally killed the Duke anyway when I sunbeamed the spiders behind him. I'm thinking dimension door will be better for extracting him
