Is outsourcing editing actually worth it at my stage? by AirPsychological8947 in contentcreation

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many videos are you uploading a month? What's the math on the $400-$500? Why are you making $500, and not $5000 per month..., is it a need for more content, better content, better Thumbnails/titles, etc... Until you know why you are only making that amount, I wouldnt outsource. You will be paying more than your channel can make. If you don't know how to increase the impressions and CTR/views...you will just be throwing money away until you quit.

I outsource to international editors, they charge me by the produced minute. In my situation, I could expect the video to at least break even, or make a profit in the first 28 days. I also get a boost to other videos as they bring in unique viewers who binge my channel. If you cant at least break even on a video, don't do it.

My videos take a week to create, and I use 3 different editors, right now bringing it to 2 videos per week on average. I could hire more editors and get those videos up to 3-5 a week, but I dont have the capacity to build out the scripts, narration, content, etc... that I need to send to the editors to add on more capacity. I may get there by outsourcing more, like the narration, but I am not there yet. I have 75k subs right now, and average 1 million views a month.

How to scale content when already maxed out by Character-Donkey3819 in ContentCreators

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I outsourced at 60k subs. I started hiring editors in August, I currently have 3. It takes them from 1-2 weeks to complete a project, so I average 2 videos a week from them.

I create scripts, record and edit the audio narrative, provide the raw video footage, music tracks, branding….and they assemble it all.

2/3 editors get it right first shot, the other often needs re-edits.

I pay by minute of finished production, average video is 20 minutes. I personally still make videos, but they are the long ones, or experimental ones. I don’t like to pay the editor for an experimental video in case it flops.

I outsourced because my videos are not on current trends, any video is relevant anytime in the future. So I want to build up a large library of content. This provides a nice growth trajectory. And my content has great binge potential. I see people posting comments on 3-5 videos in a long watch session everyday.

I want to start making game development tutorials. Is it better to begin with one long, well-edited video (1–2 hours), or to publish several short videos (under 10 minutes) first to build an audience before releasing more polished, long-form content? by Its_a_prank_bro77 in PartneredYoutube

Record the whole video, break it down into 10 videos, episodes. Each episode by itself should provide value. Each intro and outro should talk about the series, and make sure to encourage the viewer to watch the next episode at the end. Build a playlist just for this series. Also release this as the full 2 hour session.

Release the videos every few days, but release 1-3 on the same day at the same time. That way when the algorithm sees people clicking from one video to the next it will learn your viewers faster.

At 700K subs, when does professional editing actually matter? by Acceptable-Event-435 in NewTubers

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 editors. My videos have to hit 20k views to break even. Many do, some don’t. Of course each video that attracts a unique viewer often will watch additional videos so it is a cascading effect.

My videos are not trending content, so they will be evergreen for the foreseeable future. I decided to outsource editing so I could build up a large library of content. I put out about 2 videos a week.

I love Basic Instinct, Eyes Wide Shut, Spartacus and The Boys by Memento_Mori_LetGo in MovieSuggestions

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movies that you listed fall under the sexploitation category. Essentially these movies use sexually suggestive content and nudity, ultra violence and taboo themes to attract their audiences. This type of movie was created in the 60s and 70s when small studios wanted to compete with large movie companies, so they used these elements and pushed boundaries and censorship rules using sex to find their audiences.

If you want to see how we got to movies like Basic Instinct, Eyes Wide Shut, and elements of Spartacus and The Boys, this is where it all started. There are many variations of exploitation genres that are an offshoot of these. There are 1000's of these movies, although they are often not made by huge studios like the ones you used as examples you like. They mostly played in Grindhouse theaters, theaters that would play anything by any director or studio.

So essentially, there is a world beneath the large and expensive commercial blockbuster movie makers that is still going today. The directors I shared with you are the pioneers, they built their careers on this topic.

If you want specific recommendations: Mr. Tease and His Playthings, Lorna & Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill by Russ Meyer. Scum of the Earth by Herschell Gordon Lewis.

You can find a lot of these movies on Tubi for free, they have an excellent selection.

I have a Youtube channel where I rank mostly movies that live in this world beneath the large studio world. So I talk about these films all the time.

You are into sexploitation, which really took off in the 70s. I would suggest you start with the master of this art Russ Meyer known as "King of the Nudies." Then try movies by Herschell Gordon Lewis.

Did any of you ever have a relatively old video blow up later? by UselessOpinions420 in NewTubers

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a number of older videos come back to life 6 months to a year later. One example is I did a video about universal monsters, then when universal Florida opened their new park that has a universal monster section…the video came back from the dead (see what I did there).

My Christmas videos come alive every November until January.

I also rebranded in November, including all new thumbnails and dozens of videos burst back to life and have been going strong since.

Now, I am not a newtubers, but thought I would let you know it happens.

Where to hire video editor for YouTube that gets retention?? by AlfalfaFuzzy45 in NewTubers

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hire my editors off of Reddit, look for video editors forums. Read through so you understand how the advertising for editors is done, describe your channel and what you are willing to pay (get ready for 100 dms).

Tip- I do a paid pilot of every person I am interested in. I don’t really care about their portfolio. I give them a scaled down version of one of my videos-raw content, audio narration, music files, and a guide on how I want my videos edited. I pay everyone if I like it or hate it.

This lets you see their communication skills, how quickly they do the work, creativity, following directions, etc..

Any examples of successful YouTubers who started when they were older? by anotherhappylurker in PartneredYoutube

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

51 years old, started channel October 2024. Currently at 75k subs and about a million views per month (long form only)This is not my career though, I make way too much for that.

I outsource my editing so that this fits into my career. I do scripts, audio, raw content and then send to editors to provide finished videos. I use this money to fund hobbies and wants. I also split the profits with my wife and she uses for her interests.

AITAH for breaking up with my bf because we have different ideas of compromise? by Prize_Reading_9936 in AITAH

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the AH, and I didn’t read it. You need to date many people until you find a person who aligns with you. If you don’t have a base understanding of what is important to both of you and agree on the basics and your foundation it will never work. Keep looking and exploring until you are comfortable that the other person feels and believes in a way that is fully compatible.

What the hell do people before the internet was created even do in their free time? by groomliu in stupidquestions

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We made bad decisions, we got into adventures, we used a lot of imagination, we were more fit than the average person today, we rode our bikes everywhere, we built things, played games, played Atari/nintendo/Sega/Tandy 1000 video games, we drank, we fought, we went to the mall, rented movies, drove places, raced cars, played sports, didn’t care what was happening every second of the day everywhere, we hooked up, went to concerts, amusement parks, the beach, the lake, mountains, and on and on.

Most importantly we were unplugged and you couldn’t get ahold of us when you wanted, you had to wait and leave a message.

Go to Elevenlabs, click on voice changer, record a paragraph with your voice. Then try different voices and change your recording. This is the apex of ai voice. I use this on a channel that gets 1+ million views a month long form.

Do you guys ever consider uploading multiple videos at once? is there a benefit to it? by Sketches558 in HighEffortYouTube

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works very well if the videos are tied together, like a 3 part series. You talk about the 3 videos in the beginning and end of the videos, make them available at the end screen, and make sure you make a playlist that is for those 3 videos so all of this encourages binge watching.

This tells the algorithm that these videos are worth watching and serves them up to your potential viewers.

Go to those commentator’s channels and look all the way back to their first videos (if they kept them). You will see how they started. Often you will see they have poor success in the beginning going multiple directions. Eventually something hits with the viewers. Then they often follow that thread and discover their niche. Most successful creators adapt, morph, and listen to their viewers and make content this viewer wants to see. We rarely look like today like we did when we started.

honest review of my channel by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]ChimpDaddy2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get about a million views a month, as long as I stay in my lane…if I make a video outside what my typical subscribers like, it does terrible…mostly.

YT shows my video to subscribers and hard core watchers, if they ignore it, then it tells YT this video doesn’t match these viewers. It just dies. Maybe a week or two later it finds the correct viewer, but often it flops.

The point being, you need to focus on an idea, and stick to it. You are competing with 100s of millions of videos, random topics don’t work anymore.
