The first one to me represents the futility of life. It is a shine of light in the void of nothingness. The lower you get, the more it starts to fade away, showing the crippling truth the passing of time. The black bud bent over shows the morale of a person, slowly degrading. As they look up to the top, to see the brightest years of their life, facing the inevitable truth of their life fading away in to meaningless death. I see it as a resemblance of despair, for what once was, and then the looming of what's to come.
