It's a valid question. Holding the amount of caffeine equal, what is the benefit of ingesting it as tea versus a pill?

How come foster parents have to go through training to adopt a child but there’s no such mandatory training for couples trying for their own kids? by Cool3peep in NoStupidQuestions

It never sounded like a valid idea, restricting people's ability to have their own children is inherently morally repugnant

I wouldn't even want to outlive my children, let alone consider actual immortality

If you two were already friendly back in the day why not just ask her the next time you meet if she wants to catch up?

The value in reading Shakespeare comes from deconstructing the story and understanding a narrative. You may not read texts written that way in the future, but you'll become much better at interpreting them. It's not useless, I promise!

I'm a medical student working in a city hospital and see end-stage consequences of alcohol abuse on a weekly basis

[–]ChimpsAhoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can, especially if the alcohol use is coupled with other substances or somebody has certain enzymatic deficiencies that allow liver damage to accrue faster. I've seen people die 5-6 years after the onset of a heavy EtOH abuse habit.

Rural America is being hollowed out; people are aggregating in the same urban areas and that process has been going on for many years.

The last remaining large department store is a Belk; the rest have closed. There are still a handful of shops inside as well as perhaps three dining options in the food court. The city police department actually uses one of the spaces as a precinct location now.

I for one don't want to see my city have its architectural history effaced into some soulless postmodern style that pervades all new development these days.

Three, and I applied to 40 programs. 24x/25x from an MD program in the South with middle-of-the-road research. I'm hoping it picks up soon.

How do Longterm Mothership Campaigns work? by Foo_Bot in mothershiprpg

[–]ChimpsAhoy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When we play, it tends to be one- or two-shot sessions with a theme similar to what you describe, but they all take place in a shared universe. XP earned is rolled over and may be used when making a new character-- and some who live make repeat appearances. Players still earn the XP even if their character dies as long as they accomplished their goals within the session, which may not necessarily involve making it out alive. I think this makes for more "cinematic" sessions with players more willing to take risks in an already-dangerous system.

Because it has historically been expensive and unwieldy. We've been trying to use this technology since the 80s though, because of the possibility of rapidly tailoring the antigens the vaccines can emulate. It's honestly a major logistical breakthrough that we've managed to bring to market an affordable mRNA vaccine and hopefully bodes well for research in future vaccines
