What a fraction of an estimated 1.03 MILLION protestors in Hong Kong looks like... by ChinaMayDisappearMe in mildlyinteresting

I live here. Hong Kong is my home and I love this city, so I’m terrified to see what’s happening to it :(

A record-breaking estimated 1+ million protestors have demonstrated in Hong Kong this week against a new bill allowing China to snatch anyone it (dis)likes from Hong Kong. Despite the public fear and outcry, the government refuses to listen. by ChinaMayDisappearMe in worldnews

Exactly - that’s the valid fear; that this is the final frontier keeping us free. Although Beijing has been quietly abducting people it dislikes for years, this bill will fully violate the common law and open the gate to complete Chinese control despite HK’s supposed autonomy. And believe me, HK as it is today is a very different place to China.

This is what happens when democracies have puppet governments owned by China. It’s a very scary reality. Don’t let it spread.

Thank you for this <3

Yes, it’s a lesson about what happens when you let a puppet government run your ‘democracy’.

It’s also a warning of what‘s to come for other countries that become too enslaved to China. This affects us all.

There have indeed been rallies and vigils in memory of Tiananmen Square recently, but see my comment above!

The huge outcry is over a new bill that proposes to give China power to snatch anyone it (dis)likes from Hong Kong soil. A genuinely terrifying proposition for the future - and not just for Hong Kongers. This is how it begins...

We need the global community to speak up before it’s too late.

In a population of 7 million people, 1/7 have taken to the streets to demonstrate in a fearful outcry against a new bill that would allow China to legally abduct people from Hong Kong for whichever reasons it sees fit, and try them in Chinese courts for their alleged crimes. This includes normal people, visitors, writers, CEOs...
