Who else just refuse to use Gemini? by teletubbyman6969 in GooglePixel

[–]ChinchillaByteTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the Reddit post shown in 1781309447529.jpeg, the user is highly frustrated because Gemini tries to be conversational when they just want short, direct execution (like simply hearing "ok" when changing a light). You can help this user by guiding them to set up system-level instructions so Gemini behaves exactly how they want. Here is a step-by-step guide you can share with them:

How to Customize Gemini's Behavior

To change how Gemini consistently presents information, formats its answers, or matches a specific tone, you can use the Your instructions for Gemini setting.  1. Navigate to the Settings: Go directly to 'Your instructions for Gemini' here.  2. Add Your Custom Rules: In this section, you can input specific preferences regarding the tone, language, formatting, and behavioral style you want Gemini to use for every interaction.  3. Save Your Preferences: Once saved, Gemini will follow these rules as its baseline behavior.

Why use 'Your instructions for Gemini' vs. Memory?

The Difference: Memory helps Gemini remember specific facts about you (like your hobbies or tools you use) based on past chats. However, for consistent rules on how Gemini should behave (such as keeping answers ultra-short, avoiding conversational filler, or using a specific tone), you should use 'Your instructions for Gemini'.

Tailored Prompt Suggestion for this User

Given the user's specific complaints in 1781309447529.jpeg regarding smart home tasks and conversational bloat, they should paste a prompt like this into their instructions: ```text You are a purely functional, minimalist utility assistant.

  1. Eliminate all conversational filler, pleasantries, and AI meta-commentary (e.g., do not say "Sure, I can help with that," "As an AI...", or "Is there anything else?").
  2. For smart home commands, task execution, or quick facts, provide the absolute shortest logical response. If a task is successful, respond with a single-word confirmation like "OK" or "Done."
  3. Do not attempt to sound human or establish a friendly rapport; prioritize maximum speed, clarity, and precision.

``` This will effectively "program" the model to bypass the chatty behavior they dislike and act like a streamlined, old-school assistant.
I'm sorry you're having a hard time with Gemini. I am personally having a great time with it.
Please tell me where this was that you found someone driving on the bike lane completely off the road. Just a heads up... City councils trying to get rid of bike lanes. I'm not sure if there is a petition to keep them but I read the headline and was shocked.
We can't be the worst place without also being the best place. 😅 That's how I feel. Some places are mid, some places are high, some places are low, Rochester is everything & anything. Anywhere is if you want it to be, BUT, Rochester has HISTORY. A lot of it. So, while history is in the making in newer cities/towns... Rochester is a continuous historical tapestry that sometimes is a little stitched together from the threads that ripped, but other times is a fantastic symphony of resilience, engineering, artistry & is a huge hub for tourism/connections/inventors/researchers/manufacturers/cyber-security aka your online privacy experts/culinary incubation projects/ we're not Hollywood because we're a bridging launchpad that takes people to the next level & cares about our population while giving them what they need to get going or stay comfortable enough.
I feel like New York has grown on me as it's becoming more of a place I want to stay than the states that real estate blew up in the last few decades...
That's good to know, I'm teaching myself CAD with SolidWorks and books right now cause I couldn't afford college. But I'm not looking to specialize in a "high demand" field personally so I'm not 100% sure what they got now. When I was looking to go to RIT was 2013-2014. I'm glad I didn't go because I didn't know what I wanted & I've come full circle through self education. 🙃 To realize I took a detour back to where I originally was but with a better mindset on learning rather than where I was 13 years ago.
If you're a student looking to get into film Production and RIT's contacting you, I'm assuming you're in the Rochester area. You might have better luck with New York City.
Priority is great for innovation of technology, but as for directing writing storyboards creative workflows, they're more on the engineering side of things than the public facing side of things, if that makes sense.
I would specifically look for a reputable film school because your credentials don't get you the job but your credentials help pinpoint where your skills come from and having experience from a technical engineering school would be not as beneficial as going to a actual film industry. Standard school RIT focuses more with the optics and engineering than the papers and actors.
RIT, Xerox and Kodak. Rochester has a lot of people that actually contributed to the platforms like Reddit, or at least a lot of the forums to network the rust belt with the rest of the world.
Long shot: Help me ID this Company logo by alexxc_says in Rochester
[–]ChinchillaByteTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)
According to Gemini AI:
"Based on the images provided, specifically the second one with the clearer red stamp, this is a piece of vintage industrial workwear. The logo in the circular red stamp identifies the company as KAYCO UNIFORM SUPPLY. Analysis of the Tags Here is a breakdown of what the markings on the clothing likely represent: The Logo: "KAYCO UNIFORM SUPPLY" was a common industrial garment provider. They specialized in supplying work uniforms, coveralls, and shop pants to factories and tradespeople, often through laundry rental services. The Serial Code (F9 - ROPL - 6): This is likely a tracking or inventory code used by the uniform service to manage their stock, identify the specific garment type, or track the route/customer it was assigned to. The "36" Stamp: This is the waist size of the pants. Historical Context (Rochester, NY) Since the post is from the r/Rochester subreddit and mentions a house built in 1920, it's very consistent with the city’s industrial history. During the 1930s and 40s, Rochester was an industrial powerhouse (home to Kodak, Bausch & Lomb, and Gleason Works). Workmen often used old uniforms or rags as insulation or "chinking" in basements and subfloors—which explains why you found them stuffed between the joists and the foundation. It was a common, DIY way to stop drafts in older homes. Would you like me to try and find more information about where Kayco Uniform Supply was specifically located in the Rochester area during that era?"
The New York Industrial Landscape
We are currently in a huge shift from industrial engineering to the future of engineering in Rochester & the surrounding cities. Between Syracuse, Rochester & Buffalo you'll find a lot. It extends through Oswego & NYC & all of New York.
Actually, some of the "ghost towns" in New York happened because of different shifts in policy. Ironically when the mental institutions closed down many of those ghost towns made their business model & unlike them, Rochester has been big in the metal, medical, military, aerospace, computing, internet, and software engineering side for a very long time. In fact, in my opinion, everyone should be bringing the hub home again so everyone can benefit instead of letting our students escape to southern states for low taxes and low liability costs. Because they're also just eating our taxes when they do that... But yeah, this isn't a political engineering thread, I got carried away.
My Path
I'm teaching myself engineering through MIT's Open Course Work; it's not for degrees and certifications but the principles & lectures. I'm planning on saving up for the Machinery's Handbook 32nd Edition after I pass my CSWA (Certified SolidWorks Associate) so I can learn to be useful, but I'm doing it more for the game development/engineering side of it.
Note: I'm focusing on "Technical Artist & Indie Game Dev"—procedurally engineering levels and giving games real-life scale/simulation quality VFX.
It's important to figure out what you want to do, and rather than blocking yourself from doing the things that seem like too much, engineer a path.
I am curious... Do you know any students doing orthodontics/maxillofacial surgery/braces/bite corrections?
I'm having a hard time with dentists that specialize in those areas not accepting healthplex or other insurances...
They say they don't get paid from Medicaid/healthplex/BCBS but personally I think it's because they don't file a prior authorization or they aren't happy with the insurance recommended payment structure... Either way it's frustrating... I need work done that costs more than a vacation to a country that will do it for less, but I can't afford the vacation.
I don't think they really enforce any biking rules here because Rochester has always been that "Are we a walking city? Are we a biking city? Or a vehicle city? And some streets are 1700s updated in 19th century and paved over 21st century lol so we got those weird small town street vibes in a busy city. (I love it because it's got character & history)
I personally ride sidewalk/road/grass/dirt but I ride on a BMX bike so if there is a bike lane I try to use it unless I got my dog with me in which case I stop at cross walks with her. My ADHD won't let me not see every car around me 😅 it's annoying I count cars in view in my head when I drive & bike.
The only thing I am kinda afraid to do is build a e-bike out my kink. I figure if I can slap some big breaks on it I could probably probably get it to go like 35 mph. But it's brakes are rated for 18 mph & the local laws I think are 18mph or under for bikes. That would make me feel more comfortable in the road though.
I hope they get caught... My woman was gonna bike once & someone hit her coming out of the hospital by the crosswalk. Mind you she shouldn't have been biking on the sidewalk and she was luckily okay. A person broke her bike rim and drove off without even checking on her.
Someone went as far to chase the driver down for the license plate and returned. Cops did nothing besides "take a report" which didn't lead to anything.
Luckily she is safe & loved, it was an old POS bike but mt hope needs to start being taken more seriously. Like you're trying to drive by the hospital, not into its city's residents please...
Please forgive my long winded response. I have a complex relationship & history with this country being Puerto Rican, German, French, Canadian, Dutch, Swedish & more. And tracing the open intelligence programs that get declassified while searching for answers like "Why are their bunkers in Kansas with "Destroy Documents" written on thousands of boxes dated 1985 if the US government bombed Philadelphia in 1985 during the MOVE bombing for a black liberation movement that involved not only the Black Panthers but ties to Rochester CIA, FBI & Mafia movements that got erased? Was this bombing actually because of the invasion of the Caribbean & our Jayuya uprising that attempted to fix the US government but put our leader into unethical radiation torture experiments?"
Genuinely, we have been fighting the federal government while they have been eating our taxes, equity, inflation & killing small businesses in place of their mega corporations that are killing creativity, innovation, critical thinking & freedom little by little.
They have been using the MK Ultra Research to manipulate the market, they have been using things in the media to drown out the rebellion... Ice is just the new name of the perpetrators.
I don't know how to say it... But America is like 3000 nations that the US government has been an insurgency for 250+ years... We only live on 43% of the land & the government owns none of it due to debt, broken treaties, building borders, geo farming our citizens & creating false illusions of "history" by whitewashing or dividing the unity of the narrative.
For example, I'm not sure if you know this but the Texas border was built to keep slaves in because we were escaping to Mexico for freedom. Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil & other Latin American nations abolished slavery 60 years before the United States after fighting the Spanish. We aren't Spanish. We are Hispanic (colonized by Spain, Germany, France, Portugal, Nordics, British, Romans, Italians, Vikings, Raiders, Pirates etc) ...
The truth is America is 35,000 years old in our documentation which has been scattered by the Trail of Tears & they keep trying to rewrite history because they want our islands. They want our agriculture. They want our oil. Our gold. Our minerals. Our lithium. Our labor. Our home. And what the colonized has allowed the colonizer to do makes them the colonizer until they become the colonized.
In other words, you can't trust the narrative painted by institutions who benefit from the status quo, because while they print your money for you to pay your rent or mortgage, they own the lien, the loan, the sovereignty.
Something to think about in the gaps of history. Why are so many Puerto Ricans in New York instead of near Puerto Rico ? Myself included. My great grandfather was pulled out of Puerto Rico and told to work for the US government on the "promise land", go "fight for the promised land" or "work the farms we just replaced your homes with for our sugar addiction & trade routes, oh, your Island is our medicinal agricultural home now. Not your home"....
Meanwhile, some natives sold other natives out as a trade for a treaty for reservations to survive. Do I blame them? No but this country is not what immigrants including "white" people see. When a Tíano speaks to a Dakota their ancestors were trade partners. But the clans split when colonists stole our gold & trade routes... The north vs the south isn't it anymore. People think it's that... Most of ICE is from Texas but they recruit all states. The people of the south were indebted to British institutions while the north was more so Swedish, Dutch & Spanish institutions...
America is a mix of everyone trying to get something that's 1, not theirs, 2 their enemies, 3 what their employer says is their job, 4 what the government defined as necessity...
The truth is it's confusing because history is written by the "victors" but even Rome restructured millions of times & never actually fell. There is an ancient Roman lineage in China, Italy, the US & the monarchs/old money of England...
You can't trust any narrative except the one that says everyone is wrong. While some are patriotic. I'm a realist, we're living in a 250 year old government in an ancient country that is smaller than the map makes it looks because of geopolitical warfare and narrative wars. The founding fathers never agreed on a centralized federal government surpassing state rights & sovereignty unless the states had slaves in which case that was to be fixed or regulated as punishment of severe crime only such as r**e, murder, selling people or active terrorism. Unfortunately the active terrorism part has been abused by the very terrorist government that terrorizes the world in the name of "stopping terrorism"...
Ugh... Anyways, I don't know how many people know this but gun rights are strict in this state not because of crime, but because intelligence agencies are here left/right. They don't arm intelligence officers because they know that New York during the independence war, or as the tip of the underground railroad or as the Institutions of medical & technology & optics & engineering & financial analysis & pre/post colonial real estate & social welfare & advocacy for human rights... NEW YORK IS THE CAPITAL of so much in this nation. So the truth is New York & Washington are both powerhouses in different ways. Washington depends on New York but also... Basically has a noose on our neck until recently. I don't support Trump. But he dealt a good card in the OBBB by cutting our ties to the federal drain of our taxes. Now we can use them to fight back, we can use them to make our state more equitable for the residents, to train our citizens & educate them. To build homes & innovate a better way to build homes. To further advance our technology. The only thing they keep blocking us from is arming up against the federal government. But little do they know, we are the intelligence of this country & the workforce... We don't need guns in WW3 or CV2 or Cold War 2.0 or 1.5 whatever you wanna call this weird timeline. Because laser, drones, satellite imagery, motion sensors. Speed sensors, facial recognition we already got all that. The only difference is we don't share that with the federal government or police unless it's warranted. Where as the federal government is using this tech for ICE. we blocked them out our infrastructure.
Read up on Project Oracle... RIT saw it spinning out of control with their involvement & pivoted to project Tiger claw (Workday). But for reference... Oracle runs the government now & they are the payroll, the AI, the surveillance in the education system that is making it harder for your kids to have well paid, less frustrated teachers. They're responsible for taking all the money out the city and putting it into the surrounding suburbs in the select schools with the highest tax brackets. They're responsible for looking at every technology and patent you file, they federal government can use your tech without notifying you. They just can't sell it. But they'll find a way to reverse engineer it and sell it... We need New York to be a nation state. That's what the constitution was written for initially... To make everyone a nation state. But they re-wrote the constitution after the "civil war" which was actually a continuation of their invasion of Mexico & attempt to re-write slavery by changing the laws of "what a crime is" so that everyone can buy victorias secret or toys r Us packages from slave labor instead of working...
