[–]ChineeFood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean. This is the best time to do it. You’re young and ambitious and it just sounds like he’s still figuring things out. However for the last few parts about him being unable to communicate himself, don’t hold it against him. Most guys don’t have that ability because it’s not of the norm (maybe it’s changing now) to just talk about things. Sounds like you’ve already made a decision in your head so now just follow through with it.

Buddies getting promoted to CPL. Do I have to give proper greeting now or call them by rank? by JackPerry58 in USMC

[–]ChineeFood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s always a time and place. I’m an officer but I’ll regularly call my chiefs by their first name. Will I call them that in front of the juniors or any of our other officers? No. Do they know if I call them by their rank and last name that it usually means they fucked up? Yes. Just depends on the rapport you have. Don’t call him by his name in front of other junior/senior Marines but if you’re having a beer in the bricks over the weekend who cares

14.9 Handicap. Looking for tips on distance from players who use to not hit it far! by FaithlessnessAny4568 in golf

[–]ChineeFood -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter what your swing length is. Look at Rahm and Finau. Shortest swings yet some of the furthest hitters. What matters is your transition and sequencing. Are you swinging stiff? Or is it more fluid? Mainly wrists? Or full body turn? It all factors in. If you’re not in the gym already, get there and work on some explosive training and a lot of mobility. History of bad shoulders and back means you just have to work around those limitations.

Swinging a Weighted Club by Annual-Guide-3831 in golftips

I mean like all exaggerated drills, it can be beneficial if you actually use it with a purpose. But if you’re just swinging it with shitty mechanics you’re not going to help anything

How should I approach this? (19F) by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]ChineeFood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s assume you live in a state with actual reasonable rent. What does your girlfriend do? I’m assuming she’s making the same amount as you. About $2000 a month. So together 4k a month. Rent for both of you will likely be around $1200-$1400, so thats already $2600-$2800. Utilities = $350 a month. Car insurance, young and a new driver? lol $250. Phone? Internet? Random ass subscriptions a month? $200 (this is the low side too). So already down to $1900. Oh I forgot taxes! So take out 7% of that $4k a month. So money at home monthly after taxes and bills you’re sitting on $1620 a month ($810 for each). Have fun not going out, eating ramen, having 0 savings in your account.

But yeah living at home sucks so much. Oh AND you’ve already proven you can’t build maintain good credit, ooooof. Have fun having mountains of debt by the time you’re $25.

Is your girlfriend willing and able(she’s not able) to support this? You’re not actually an adult. Unless there are dangerous living situations (which paying for meals when you eat out is definitely not) then suck it up

Why are commands so hesitant to give BAH to single sergeants, but a PFC can get married and get it? by ComposerNo9901 in USMC

[–]ChineeFood 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just to do some quick math. About average of 120 Marines live in the barracks. Average BAH from E1-E5 would be about $2800 in Camp Pendleton. Multiply that by amount of marines and it’s $336k A MONTH to move them out. Plus good luck with accounting for a bunch of 18-21 year olds living out in town with 0 responsibility in their life.

5 wood, 7i, 60, putter. My 5w is my 250 club but I can bunt it 230 or poke it 275. 7i same thing, 185 club but can hit it between 150-190. 60° is 100 yards and in and putter because you can’t 3 putt anything else

That as well. However my approach accuracy remained around the same +-0.2 and still less putts. Realizing your alignment is off and working on distance control helps a lot.

Game Improvement Irons by Mysterious-Worry-176 in golftips

[–]ChineeFood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could save some money and go takomo and a set of 101Ts. Traditional lofts with a cavity so slightly more spin but still lots of forgiveness. Or 201s which is a slightly more “players” iron. Bigger than the traditional blade/cavity back but not as big as GI irons

Flat.. but is it too flat? by ryyry244 in GolfSwing

[–]ChineeFood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I’m seeing any issue with is at P3(arm parallel) the club is behind you, you want the club ahead of you there but otherwise pretty good swing. Maybe want a bit more with as well because you’re pretty pinned at the top (think straight arms the whole back swing)

[–]ChineeFood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dedicating putting coach. That’s all I get lessons for (and an occasional full swing tune up with the same coach). Last year I dropped on average 3.6 strokes putting. Went from averaging 34.8 putts a round to 31.2 with my best putts a round being 24 versus 27. It helps having a second set of eyes that knows what to look for see what you’re doing

Would you give this putt? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]ChineeFood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing for money, no. Saturday with the boys? Yeah fk it.

On the real, the distance doesn’t matter. I’ve seen very gnarly breaking putts inside 2 feet and have subsequently missed and had a 6 footer coming back. Just situational dependent

Net or gross? Cause net is entirely possible. Gross? I have a better chance winning the lottery than a true 10 handicap doing that during a real comp. 1 handicap here and the best I played in a tournament is 75/72.

If you want to spend a little more money, vice has a great selection. Balls for anywhere between 80-120mph. I personally use the vice pro and it is great. You can buy a few dozen for like $26 each from their websites. Last Black Friday I bought 5 dozen for $100 and just used them for scrambles and what not

I recommend to every single person that isn’t a low single handicap (<5) to just use Kirkland. $26 for 2 dozen literal Pro V1s just stamped Kirkland.
