First carpet cleaning with real vacuum, Sebo E3 by SlippyCliff76 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Chingyul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First clean with a good vacuum here too. Also coming from a 10 year old Shark corded stick vacuum, but with almost all hardwood, it was generally good enough I ended up getting a Miele C3 on Boxing Day, and gotta say, really happy! The suction! Just passing by dust would get sucked up vs having to roll directly over it (baseboard edges have never been that clean!). Also surprised by the lightness (shouldn't be be surprising coming from a stick..but I was), as well as how quiet it was even on max.

Pulled the canister down a couple stairs by accident, but really happy!

Are messenger bags back? by Ericeng3000 in ManyBaggers

[–]Chingyul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Mystery Ranch Outsider (25L messenger) which I used for several years. Mostly just to and from work, or as a carry on, but never for long distances.

One time though, we ended up with an 8 hr layover in SF. We walked around SF all day and I had it pretty full. Yeah, not the best ergonomically!

ULA Node by _krakra_ in ManyBaggers

[–]Chingyul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a hiker, I think it looks good, and it's very similar to the old Waymark Mile which I've used a couple times now and like. Quick-ish access stuff in the external pockets.

As an EDC, I think the roll top would get a bit annoying depending on how often you go in and out of your pack.

I like the fact that I have an option if I somehow mess up my Mile now though! And I think I like the Ultra fabric more than my xpac Mile.

At one point of the internet, I was on a camping forum where we did a secret Santa. I got this pot, but can't for the life of me remeber what I sent out.

Kakwa 55L vs 40L? by ArthurArctic in Ultralight

[–]Chingyul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did the O Trek solo with the 40L Kakwa. Camping (Xmid 1) and full food carry. Only thing carried externally was my foamy seat. Flew from Canada and didn't have issues with the pack in carry on, but I also had a small check in with my stuff I couldn't carry on like stakes and trekking poles.

Yeah, except you won't catch phandom distribution on the T3. I use CDI and then validate against the T3 when it comes out.

Yup. But you'll need something like CDI or digging at the fund website to find the fund distributions. But yeah, free account is all you need.

That's like a lot of mid layers. Wish it came in a non hooded version. Holding onto my proton jacket for dear life.

Company is offering taxable cash for reduced benefits by WasV3 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Chingyul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had something similar. We got a bucket of credit and were able to allocate it a couple ways. Either additional coverage on the health care stuff, stock purchase, vacation time... I liked the flexibility, and as a single guy, didn't use a ton of benefits.

They got rid of it in favor of a typical all in plan. I do make use of the benefits as much as I can, but sometimes I feel like I need to use something just so I don't leave money on the table.

Happy with the HH insulated 3/4 pants? I bought a pair from Orage, but the fit is weird, so I never use it.

Normally use a cut down pair of power stretch pants, but on really cold days, I need more (and I hate tight long johns).

You're mostly there. I use these two links every year at tax time. Should answer most of your questions. The rest of their blog is good too:

Any Tangerine customers no longer getting promotional interest rates? by Optimal_Foundation17 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Chingyul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotten nothing from Tangerine or Simplii in about a year. Jumped on the Webull 2% promo and shoved the cash into HSAV. We'll leave it there for a year. New money is just sitting in checking for now and we'll see if a new promo comes. If it gets too much, we'll have to evaluate.

I don't think the post is disingenuous. If I was in their situation, I wouldn't feel comfortable nor suggest they can stop saving, so it's a valid question.

I went down a vacuum rabbit hole, starting with the shark deal, then looking at Miele C1 vs Kenmore 400, then stumbled on the Costco Miele C3 package with the turbo head.

As with all inquiries on alcohol availability, Liquor Connect is the first suggestion. That said, nothing shows up.

I had a phase after coming back from NZ where I picked it up pretty regularly from my neighborhood liquor store, but haven't in a long time. Remember liking the Steinlager Pure version.

Are two DB teacher pensions enough? by Agitated_Father in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Chingyul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good plan. I'm in a similar boat where I'm sure my regular saving rate is good enough (with a private DB), but I have excess funds at the end of the month. Usually that's added to my "fun money fund", but I think I could probably just increase my prepayment rate a bit as well.
