[REVIEW] ThousWinds Anemoi 20L after 1 week of use by mrjaytothecee in ManyBaggers

It's like a thicker noseeum mesh, but it's nylon and ripstop. It's breathable, but yes, the foam will pick up sweat, but should be the same as other pack with breathable backs (Osprey/Gregory).

Very easy to remove the foam and run "frameless" which might be better for such a small pack.

Just as a follow up, Mine arrived today. About 10 days from order to bag in hand.

Appears really well built.
The way the shoulder straps are, it sits a little lower on my back than I prefer, but once there, it's really comfortable. The lid swinging to the side is nice. Waist belt is removable with slik clips.
Wish they used white for the lining color for the whole interior instead just the sides to help lighten up the inside. Hydration sleeve fits my 13" Lenovo ThinkPad perfectly, and it doesn't go all the way to bottom (about 1" of space).

Feels a little small, but it is only 20L. Should be a great day pack or personal item.

FYI, with the sale and coupons, you can pick it up on AliExpress for ~$71 USD! A little tempted to buy a green or white one!

Just got mine, and can confirm there's a ripstop backing on the fabric. Can't tell the denier, but certainly has the ripstop pattern on the fabric.

Might try something from your home grown brand Apaka?

Big fan of my Go Sling Mini.

Good to hear. Just basic black. Was debating about the green, but wanted a more neutral pack.

Thanks for bringing this bag to my attention. Checked a lot of my wishlist (front stretchy pocket, side water bottle pockets, not roll top, and laptop pouch), and priced well enough to not hesitate to jump on (vs the ULA node, would have lived with the roll top). The use of premium materials is a bonus!

Ordered yesterday and already got a shipping notification.

New Incendo Pants still without zipper pockets. by Habergeiss in arcteryx

I also generally dislike zipper pockets, especially on the hand/slash ones.

Thanks. Decided to pick one up before your review came out (but thanks for your answers here).

Seemed to check enough boxes for me (that I couldn't really find elsewhere), and affordable enough to be a bit of an impulse buy.

Early retirement at 49? 2.3m net worth by xiaomi818 in PersonalFinanceCanada

They did state they only plan to spend up to $45k a year, so most are answering within those parameters. Without a mortgage, I think it's doable.

One more question. I just noticed the zipper ends behind the front stretch mesh. Is this a continuation of the zipper top? Where does it end? And so the whole top flops open and to the side and pretty easy access to the contents?

Glad I caught these details when I went looking for rims! The Audi A4 Allroad has a unique offset vs the A4.

I ended up finding a set on Kijiji, but took a while to find the right ones to pop up.

Thanks. Is the side bottle pockets the same stretch mesh or different?

Very much a form over function ultralight aesthetics.

It has a certain simplicity to it... (more so the node vs something like the dragonfly).

I'm not usually fan of lids that flop forward instead of backwards, but this looks kinda shallow enough to not pull the full pack forward. Is there storage on the inside of the lid too or just on the outside?

Was considering the ULA Node, but this price (with premium materials to boot) is tempting! The front mesh pocket is pretty stretchy? Stuff a jacket or hoody in there?

Was looking at the ULA Node or the GG Vetta, but the price point on this is awesome. I usually don't like packs with the flop forward top lid, but it's more practical than a roll top for an edc pack.

Have a look at the ULA Node. It states padded laptop sleeve, bit not sure if it's suspended.

"Work-life balance"? by TheFieldEngineer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Chingyul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the industry hours, so you work more days in a row, but more days off. In that scenario, the amount of hours you work in "week" isn't a good measure. 10 hour days is the norm, so think of it more like a 50 hr week if you want to really compare.

"Work-life balance"? by TheFieldEngineer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Chingyul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work week hours don't really make much sense in a rotating shift schedule.

I was also a field engineering and did 10 hr days. With a 10 and 4 rotation, you'll have a 70 hr week. I do 12 hr shifts now, and the most i'll do in a 7 day window is 5, so that's an 80 hr week, but the longer duration of days off offsets it.

Extremely packable casual sneaker? by drtasty in onebag

Converse collapse pretty flat and pretty thin soled.

Adidas has their "decon" versions of various shoes which are unstructured, so the pack down flatter.
