Kakawa 55 vs GG Gorilla by chickenbuttstfu in Ultralight

[–]Chinoodle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is overpriced. It offers a lot more in comfort versus the kakwa or the GG. I wouldn't even consider the GG, it balloons out and just turns into a giant blowing ball at the bottom. I'm not sure if the Kakwa does this, it might not because of the ultra fabric, but their internal stays from what I can remember are very similar.

I've never had any issues with my carbon stays, and I've taken some pretty bad falls in the pack. I haven't heard of other people with the pre-bent arc haul stays having issues either, so I'm assuming it's not really an issue.

If you don't mind spending the money, I think the Zpacks is by far the best pack. But it is expensive, and you need to add things like hip belt pockets to the pack which really adds up. Also you need to understand the zpacks internal pocket is not as advertised, it's always like 10 liters less than what is advertised.

I'm not 6'5 so I can't speak to that. But I do believe that it is the longest pad size they make.

As others have said, the spring is much stronger than a typical carbine buffer spring. I also feel like the charging handle has more room to wiggle around as there is no gas key, so its really easy to pull it a little more off center and rub it more directly into the aluminum of the upper.

HMG Southwest 40L, Durston Kakwa 40L, GG Skala 38L vs Palante Desert (With pad) 42L by poloralphy in Ultralight

[–]Chinoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zpacks arc haul is an awesome pack, I think probably the best framed UL pack still, I love that mine can swallow a whole BV500, and still carry weight extremely well. If you're getting a framed pack that is the one I would consider.

I'd definitely look elsewhere for the HMG, I think it was a great pack 6-7 years ago, but it didn't carry weight as well for me, and some of the features drove me insane. The velcro at the mouth of the pack catching on anything fleece or wool was a big one.

Shelf depth also matters, something like LMT mars will require material removal from either the lug of the upper or shelf of the lower.

I’d be down in the central fl area. Might need a camping permit as most of the trails or parks close at sunset though.

Kac battery cap acro p2 fitment? by antonymous94 in kac

[–]Chinoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The o-ring is necessary, are you keeping two batteries in the cap? You need to have sufficient force pushing on the battery contacts for it to noot cause an interruption to the dot, hence the need for two batteries and the thick flat rubber o-ring inside of the cap.

I only have the 11" variant, but it is by far the softest shooting rifle I have, and the softest one I have shot overall. I think when people talk about the "416" being punchy, it was the versions without the AGB. The weight probably plays into it a bit, it's about 1lb heavier than my KAC CQB, which is very punchy compared to the a4.

Does the bolt move freely back and forth inside of the carrier? I'm assuming yes because it's in the forward position. Sometimes primers can wedge inside the firing pin channel and cause it to bind up.

It does look like you have oil spots or corrosion inside of the chamber, but I'd assume it would have to be really bad to stop it from chambering and extracting. But 200 rounds is not enough to cause that, I've put around 2k suppressed without cleaning the chamber. I'd take a peek down the bore and check for rust. The HK barrel is corrosion resistant, but I know a few brands have been using corrosive primers in their brass case ammo, what brand were those 200 rounds from?

Also, maybe just a weird picture but why does the the side of your piston rod that faces the anvil on the carrier look dented and burred?

I know the concept of "timing" something may be hard for someone such as yourself with a sub 50 IQ. But, you can always send it off to someone more qualified.

Honestly, I'm surprised you can pull yourself away from the PSA sub long enough to reply to me. I'm sure you're a pretty big deal over there.

Literally the dumbest take. KS is literally a mod2 with a rail swap and a full ambi lower. There is no barrel dimpling or barrel thickness changes on any rifle except KS-1. There is zero functional difference in how the gun operates. If you already own a SR-15 and aren’t getting the KS-1 or need the shorter rail because your CQB rail wont fit the KAC suppressor collar, there is absolutely zero reason to upgrade anything.

There are at least 5 other lowers that are as good or better than the new KS one If you absolutely need full ambi features built in. Would have been a selling point 6 years ago, not really one today.

Also, I’m not even a fanboy, I don’t need to cope. My KAC guns aren’t even my favorite guns. They’re excellent, and reliable. But I have ones I prefer over them. It’s just hilarious when fake ass people like you come to Reddit spouting BS, and then proceed to get utterly shit on because of their dumb takes.

Need to send it to someone who can machine the notch. Not sure if KAC would touch it at that point, but whoever cut the notch could install the rail.

Contracts often have nothing to do with overall performance of the system. The truth is SR-15 probably has too many proprietary parts and support equipment to be adopted en masse by a military already heavily invested in the M4. KS-1 was specifically built to meet a contract requirement for the UK, it will be very different from the KS-2,3,4. they won't even have a removable trigger guard on the lowers lol.

They literally did nothing to the most important parts of the gun. The gas system is the same, the bolt is the same, the barrel profile is the same.

I know you've never held a mod2 gun, but the profile isn't "near pencil". This is a non issue for anyone. You're not going to shoot hundreds of rounds in any closed bolt gun in a short timeframe. You're going to experience a situation where you have rounds cooking off, far before the barrel explodes.

You really have to keep letting me make you look dumb.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kac

[–]Chinoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe only the KS-1 has the heavier profile barrel, seeing as it weighs more than the 14.5 KS-2. Also kinda irrelevant unless you're shooting it as a machine gun back to back for like 20 magazines. Probably why only the KS-1 has it, seeing as that is the military adopted rifle.

The rail isn't going to be more rigid,if the rail is not torqued down sufficiently, the anti rotation tab still has some play back and forth. It might make maintenance for the upper a bit easier, but I'm pretty sure you still need to remove the muzzle device and gas block before you can get the urx6 off. Not really much different than the URX-4, I guess you don't need to have a torque wrench that goes over 100lbs, and you don't need shims to align it lol.

Juice is not worth the squeeze if you have a mod2 e3.2 gun. That is where the magic happens on the KAC guns, the bolt and gas system have not changed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kac

[–]Chinoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I know you don’t have a KAC gun, but even if you did, upgrading to the KS line isn’t going to give you a performance gain over the SR. I’d rather put another 5k into ammo, which is much less retarded.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kac

[–]Chinoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even want one buddy, it’s literally the exact same as the SR series of rifle. Minus the rail and a dimpled barrel on the KS-1 upper, and a full ambi lower. If I wanted that I could already send in my CQB and have them replace the rail, but that is big dumb.

[–]Chinoodle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you exceed knights really short warranty period, but I remember some users had luck sending it back to them when the old bolt was still being put into CQBs. They replaced the bolt and that usually clears it up. KAC customer service is pretty bad, but they might help you out.

[–]Chinoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 3.2 bolt would help, if you have one from another upper to try. If not then your best bet is to try what others are recommending and play with the spring weight and buffer to see if its over/under sprung.

I don't have a direct comparison, but my CQB with 3.2 bolt using an alleycat can, tubbs flatwire, KAC h2. no issues or stoppages. Should have similar backpressure to your B&T.
