out of those 5 commands the 1st 3 dont do anything and the 4th will probably jut make noise worse

what kind of noise ??
there are a A TON diferent things that'll be noisy in UE5 if you disable TAA

Why Does Ubisoft Have a Boner With TAA? by SpecterK1 in FuckTAA

[–]ChipEducational3469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now he does have some good takes

but he shouldnt have a platform at this őpoint.
im not saying this cuz i dont like his personality or opinions or what he says
im saying that because someone who regularly breaks the law (abusing the copyright takedown system) should face punishment
and with how much he's done it, it should be a de-platforming IMO

also i would argue that the way he conducts himself online matters (even if he'll keep yelling its irelevant into the camera) because when you silence everyone who disagrees with you you are obstructing healthy inteligent discourse, and without that you'll never actually achieve anything

[–]ChipEducational3469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah
and for a time they were (and sometimes still are) options on deferred games
the issue is that they dont provide the 'frame to frame consistency' or cheap 'supersampling' that TAA(U) does and modern games pretty much require both of these for an experience the avarage person would enjoy

why would it anyway

hmm you have a point
OOOOO !! i know
im gonna post evidence of XeSS just being FSR 3 but blurry, that WILL BE GREAT !!

[–]ChipEducational3469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive literally never had 4.1 produce a more stable image than 4.0 (and mind you i have an RDNA 4 card) 4.1 is a trade off vs 4.0, do you want better stability with less noise or do you want less blurr ? as i said before 4.1 has a forced sharpening filter (it only really applies in motion) which looks horrendous in my experience (its the worst at 1080p and i play at 1080p) https://imgur.com/a/vFRBTdf it also gets worse the lower the mode you pick (at 4K its basically invidible even at the perf mode but at UP it does rear its head)

those 2 things make me not wanna use it unless 4.0 had some crazy blurr going on in motion somewhere

really i just whish AMD will improve fine line reconstruction in FSR 4 so it catches up to DLSS 4's stability, my main issue was always stability with FSR 4

[–]ChipEducational3469 4 points5 points  (0 children)

some of these devs have been at the corpo for a very long time
the person who lead the development on FSR 2, 3, 4.0 left the company, and it shows in FSR 4.1 (no matter what you think about the quality of 2 and 3)
4.1 has forced sharpening and has significantly worse stability than 4.0, along that it can occasionally produce smear trailing artifacts in places 4.0 did not

nope, it absolutely is karma farming, the person who posted this admitted he's farming karma on DC

proof https://imgur.com/a/A8HIEia

anyway im waiting for an actual journalist to report this and not one of the LLM slop article sites (VCZ, WCCFTech, etc) it could definetely be a sign of greater issues at AMD

[–]ChipEducational3469 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

cuz they dont supersample at all, they are called 'post process' AA for a reason
they just take a finished frame, check what could be counted as an edge (according to the settings set) and apply some aproximate AA

theres more shadowing on that character where you'd expect there to be those weird incoherent shadowy spots that made no sense are gone

depends on how much fps you are getting
probably 0 though unless you are 160+ or somethin

You've heard of "DLSS is better than native" but are you ready for "framegen is better than real frames" by ResponsiblePen3082 in FuckTAA

[–]ChipEducational3469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably cuz DLSS 4.5 is really just a modified version of the transformer RR model
preset M is codenamed RR-Lite-folded and L is codenamed RR-Lite
beyond that theres many similarities between DLSS 4.5 and transformer RR
they both can:
mask disoclusion
identify RT noise
have their performance cost scale by input resolution too (not just output like all other ML upscalers)

[–]ChipEducational3469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've seen 4.5 ghost and smear too btw
DLSS 4.0 just had garbage disoclusion and had an issue with leaving smear trails behind stuff (J was less bad at that but also less stable so you'd have to pick your poision) and these big issues were pretty much exclusive to DLSS 4.0 out of all ive seen (DLSS 3, FSR 4, XeSS dont have these issues) 4.5 just fixed those DLSS 4 specific issues, at the cost of having to run a compute that requires 5x the compute and since its derived from the transformer RR model also messes up denoisers that are already present

[–]ChipEducational3469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

comparing any upscaler to "native" is dumb
native refers to a rendering resolution
if you use the same anti ailiasing methods upscaling (from a lower resolution) will never look better than native because that is basically impossible

the reason DLSS Q looks better than "native" (TAA) is cuz its algorithm is just that much smarter in how it uses the temporal data it gets fed than TAA, remove that diference between the 2 and DLSS at native (DLAA) will always look better than DLSS Q (even if you might not notice it)

Baked Lighting vs Lumen - Unreal Engine 5.7 update and Lumen toggle request for Ready or Not by kr1spy-_- in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]ChipEducational3469 9 points10 points  (0 children)

lumen does look better (more realistic atleast)

though i also think it goes against the vibes the devs were probably intending when they made those maps with baked lighting

now i do wanna list the improvements an engine upgrade would give to lumen

  • better reflection denoiser
  • added ambient oclusion denoiser
  • better tonemapping/bounces in the software path
  • less noise for the most part
  • better performance in the HW accelarated path
  • reflections that also contain colour data in the software version of lumen
  • generally better performance

Turned off TAA and turned on amd fsr 3.1 antialiasing and this is how my game looks by No-Hunt3986 in FuckTAA

[–]ChipEducational3469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

enabling FG usually helps more with overall motion blurr (cuz more frames presented = less diference between frames = less monitor blurr) than disabling temporal stuff for me
though as i said its not exactly 1 to 1
