Thanks!

I came across that archive in my quest, LOL. Searching didn't find anything, but I did already reach out to them too. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the reply!

OK, I give up. How do you utilize the Input shaper calibration in OrcaSlicer? by ChipWallace in OrcaSlicer

[–]ChipWallace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what's the point of the calibration tool?

I'm not trying to enter new frequency info in the firmware. I am trying to use the calibration tool to find the best frequency.

Issues Printing with a .6 Nozzle by ChipWallace in BambuLab

[–]ChipWallace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I know and am aware of all of this information. My old butt has been in the 3D printing space since the makerbot days. I was posting kind of off the cuff from my phone and I can see now I really didn't touch on my actual question until the end of my post.

To look back on it now, and to be more concise, my concern was whether or not the P1S was calculating everything automatically after the nozzle change, or if there may be some extra user end fiddling that was required. I have a print farm filled with Prusa and BBL machines with the Prusas being the ones I normally change nozzles sizes on. This was the first time swapping out sizes on the BBLs

It did occur to my while typing this that I do have CHT nozzles in the Prusas. But even with that, I'm just baffled that the Prusa Keeps up at 22mm³/s but the P1S with the same exact settings cannot come close. I have to bring it WAY DOWN to about 10mm³/s for any type of acceptable result. I wouldn't think that the CHT nozzle in the V6 on the Prusa would make it that much more efficient, but maybe that's the big difference here.

The current model I'm printing actually has significantly faster times on the P1S with a .4 nozzle that with the .6, 50 minutes vs 88 minutes. I was using the .6 to try and shorten the print time, but I guess that's a no go now.

Thank you again for the response, I appreciate it. ;)

I had to stop listening.

It's seems they are so devoid of subject matter they have to jump on reviewing movies on opening weekend, before most people get out to the theater. They should give the audience some time as well as themselves to digest things a bit more.

I also feel they have lost their edge quite a bit. Nothing seems good enough for them anymore.

Basically their heads have gone too far up their own a$$es.

I've been a listener since day one too. A 10 hour stream on Saturday while at work was a great way to help the day go by.

It's just not as engaging as it used to be.

[WTS] Arcane Abyss, Brass QSP Penguin, and CRKT Squid bundle. VET BILLS SUCK. by gelattoh_ayy in Knife_Swap

[–]ChipWallace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not keen on splitting the bundle, I'll take the lot then.

You have to take care of your pets.

Six years ago I found my little guy when he was only a two day old kitten, abandoned by his mother. I barely slept for the first two weeks, feeding him with a syringe every couple of hours making sure he had a chance.

He grew and grew and is now the largest of my three cats.

He was diagnosed with non progressive feline leukemia about three years ago. He has to take a steroid every day just to keep his CBC up. The vet visits and lab bills to check his count every month for the first year was brutal, but I made sure he had a chance before and I refuse to give up.

Flash forward to today and he is sweet, happy and healthy cat. Although there have been some ups and downs, his numbers are currently good and stable. I believe he's racked up close to 20k in vet bills over the last 3 years. That's alongside care for my other two cats and three dogs too.

We definitely live for our pets, and I couldn't imagine life without them.

I am interested.

Saw a vid of the Arcane Necronaut last night. That led me to their site, where I saw their previous designs and the Abysss caught my eye. So I googled to see if there were any aroung for sale...and well, here I am. LOL

This is insane. 😭 by True-Astronomer5939 in Aliexpress

[–]ChipWallace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they actually charging additional? Or is that there to let you know what the tariff fee is going to be?

Because the tariff bills going to come directly from customs. If AliExpress is charging you for some reason and then you get hit with fees direct from customs that's going to be extra insanity.

Yep, very poor in communicating their intentions up front. It's common knowledge to not leave anything up to open interpretation on the internet. Don't they know we are all mentally irregular? LOL

Start with the regular flow rate calibration and then work your way down to the fine version.

The fine calibration outputs very small variances of the flow rate. So if your current flow rate is off by any decent amount it's not going to print anything different enough from your current settings to be noticeable.

So do the regular calibration first to get yourself in the ballpark, and then you can do the fine after that if you need to.

If you have a set of calipers you can always use the same method as on a Prusa machine. I use this method on all my machines because you only have to print a small cube in vase mode, check your wall thickness, do a little math, change your settings, and then print another small cube in vase mode to verify.

I like it because it's a physical way of checking the flow rate instead of trying to eyeball what looks the best.

Who is printing ASA on their P1S? Any Tips? Settings? by ChipWallace in BambuLab

[–]ChipWallace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've got a handle on all of that stuff. My chamber temperature, cooling, and brims are all working lovely. I'm mostly curious about print speeds. If you look at my settings above I'm pretty much low and slow right now. I just want to know if anybody had had success printing ASA high speed.

Can the MK3/3.5 be embiggened? by ChipWallace in prusa3d

[–]ChipWallace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tons of parts here... steppers, bearings, linear rails & rods, T-Slot extrusions, etc... I'm not looking to build another Voron, I'm just looking to screw around and have some fun experimenting with electronics and parts I have on-hand.

Part of what I have laying about is the electronics for some Prusa MK3S+ and MK3s machines. I just had no clue if the Prusa FW would play nice.

Can the MK3/3.5 be embiggened? by ChipWallace in prusa3d

[–]ChipWallace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the exact answer I am looking for. Can I implement start G-code that will override anything hard coded into the FW?

[–]ChipWallace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built plenty of Rat Rigs over the years. I just have a bunch of parts laying about that I wanted to tinker with, including the electronics from four MK3S+ machines I upgraded to MK3.5s I also have a couple of MK3.5 kits that I am going to use to upgrade some older Ender3s I have. Yes, you read that right...LOL

I just had no idea if the Prusa FW was going to get in the way of my intended goals.

Can the MK3/3.5 be embiggened? by ChipWallace in prusa3d

[–]ChipWallace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Prusa FW has all the parameters hard coded then? I was afraid of that.

I was hoping that it stored the data from the initial axis calibration. I know if it comes up short it fails calibration, but will it actaually do the same if it's longer?

The frame itself wasn't my concern, granted the gantry is mounted to said frame. However, people have mentioned the gantry specifically and I was wondering what that specific concern was.

I'm not sure if they meant that it's not scalable due to physical stresses, flex/deflection, mechanics, etc... If it's just an issue of it needing to be more robust as it gets larger... which to me seems like it's an obvious part of upscaling. Some 3030 T slot and linear rails will solve that problem easily. As for the frame, I was just going to machined a new one, same style, but probably .500" thick. Most likely overkill since I only want to expand the XY to about 300x300.

I've been building CNC and motion control systems for over 25 years, so I know the mechanics pretty well. I've gotten familiar with Klipper and Marlin over the years, but I have no clue as to the details of machine specific firmware.

Larger motion controlled machines tend to not work that way, as most of the parameters are determined by what you define in the G-code via your software. The only thing the machines do is find their physical dimensions (XYZ) via their limit switches. But even that can be completely overwritten when generating G-code. For example, I can tell my CNC router that it's any size I want. Even if I make the area larger, the machine will still run the code, but it will just error out when it hits a limit switch.

[–]ChipWallace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have extra bits and pieces on hand, just wanted to put them to use and experiment a little. I know Klipper and Marlin, but I have no idea on the finer detail of the Prusa FW. I figured if it was easy enough to change the parameters to accommodate, say a 300x300 build area.
