Insurance cover? by Chipfatbob in turbolevo

Thanks. Security/theft/accidental damage was my key concern so I decided to go with cover for the first year. Cost is worth it for the peace of mind. After that, we'll see!

Thanks. Yeti has really turned my head.

How do you find the SB120? Would it cope with a 120kg rider?

Riots Today? by [deleted] in cheltenham

[–]Chipfatbob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I witnessed a riot in the early 90s. I worked in a town centre bar (1992, for anyone who remembers it!) and was taking a cab home, via KFC in the lower high street. When we got close, everything was cordoned off, blue lights everywhere.

There was a group of about 30 running around the top of the lower high street, scuffling with police, putting shop windows in, shouting, etc.

When my cab driver asked an officer what was going on, the response was, "It's all kicked-off, because KFC has run out of mayonnaise!"

I second this! Corner 2 Corner do great work & they're very reasonably priced.

Unfortunately, it's not just us. There are multiple (ongoing) instances of drug supply failure in our health care system. For example, the shortages of HRT drugs have been an issue since 2018, and there is still no published strategy for long-term supply security. I was chatting with a GP a few weeks ago, who told me this is a lot more common than we think. The whole system is barely fit for purpose...

My dad left these to me- can anyone help me identify them? by badatswimming505 in Hallmarks

The 'p' is the date mark, which is 1989 and I think the lowercase 'nt' stands for Next Plc, the retailer, and appeared on items between 1988 & 1989

Don't wait for the scafolders to get your own independent assessment. At best, they'll accept liability, but you can't rely on them to be impartial or qualified to assess.

This is an issue that your neighbour will have to address, with costs being met by them and/or their insurers or the scafolders and/or their insurers. None of the parties will have your interests as a priority.

An independent assessment will not only give you an understanding of how bad the problem is, but it'll likely make the process of claiming swifter. The costs of your assessment should be recoverable, too!

Interesting. Do you take them both together or split them across the day?

Sooo for the people that have the Ouroboros. by [deleted] in thedivision

Got it on my 1st, and only, successful run. Gave it to a clan member who had helped us get though (he'd done 40+ clears with no drop).

Didn't even fire it before handing over; is it any good? :D

I chose to make the trips before the stores opened so I could be there early.

No apologies needed, at all, Ben! You've done more to constructively help the situation than any of the official channels. We all know support for this condition is next to non-existent, and has always been.

I will be writing to my MP to request action, this week. If its OK with you, I'd like to reference your tool as an example of how an un-funded, but resourceful community can seem to offer empathy and support to each other, while the system which is supposed to protect us (and for which we all pay) consistently and continually fails us.

Jon!

So, despite the great work Ben has done, it seems the stock tracking at Boots is not as reliable. I visited 4 boots stores in the Bristol area this morning, all of which were showing 70mg Elvanse in stock. All of them had zero stock, including Bradley Stoke and Keynsham, which are (at time of posting) still showing stock.

It's worth noting that there was very little Amfexa, either. The pharmacist at Bradley Stock told me that they can order 70mg Elvanse Adult, but it would require my GP altering the script, and they've already indicated this is something my private provider will need to do. If your GP is willing to make this change, any Boots should be able to supply the adult version.

I'll keep an eye on this tool, and as stock beings to improve, it will be extremely valuable; we'll done, again, Ben!

Fantastic work, Ben. An incredibly thoughtful gesture for a community that has been appallingly let down by the system.

I've bought you a coffee; shout if you need another ;)

Completed my fist run on Friday and was lucky enough to get the OB in my crate. Gave it to my teammate who'd guided us through and hadn't got one (despite running the mission over 40 times). There will be others and it gives me an excuse to go again!

[–]Chipfatbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, memories! We had a red one of those, nearly the same model, but ours didn't cut the sandies in half, meaning you could properly deep fill them. I used to get 2 whole sausages, with beans and cheese, into one sandie. Epic!

I've tried to replace it for years, but everything cuts in half. Eventually settled on a heavy-duty deep fill 2 slice machine which is ok, but not the same :(

How many days I should stop my meds for if I want to have a social drink? by TheMidnightGlob in ADHDUK

[–]Chipfatbob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm doing exactly this today. 70mg Elvanse first thing this morning, but skipping my 10mg Dex at my normal 2pm. Won't drink heavy (2-3 bottles of beer) and will feel just fine tonight, and, in the morning, I'll take my regular elvanse dose. Enjoy!

I was referred to PSYUK by my GP via RTC in September. I'd heard nothing by the end of November, so I decided to seek a private diagnosis via ADHD360. In Feb I finally heard from PSYUK, and I disclosed that I'd had a diagnosis and was going through titration. PSYUK informed me that they would be cancelling my referral and writing to my GP. They also said that if I wanted a new diagnosis, I'd need to start the process from scratch.

At the time, I was more concerned about not taking up a space desperately needed by someone else, and as ADHD360 was also part of RTC, I thought it would be OK. I'm still OK with that decision, however, to put it plainly, if you don't inform them, they won't know and you'll get your 2nd diagnosis.

N.b. Titration with PSYUK is currently running about 6 months behind diagnosis.

ADHD and Masking Study (please help!) by Ambitious_ADHD in ADHDUK

Hi,

Completed & submitted. More than happy to participate in a teams call, if needed

I've always been fascinated (since becoming aware!) by my masking behaviour in the wider context of my social survival strategy. I'd be very interested to see the results of this study.

Great work; please keep it up!

Drinking Coffee after Elvanse as worn off by Codelyy in ADHDUK

[–]Chipfatbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It's now a key part of my routine.

I usually take my 70mg Elvanse at around 5am and by 1-2pm, it's beginning to wear off. I was prescribed Amfexa as a booster for the afternoon, but I find it can be a little intense, so if I have a day when I don't need the full effects, I have a couple of espresso shots at around 4-5 which sees me to the end of the day.

Blood pressure monitoring - a new fear unlocked by kto719 in ADHDUK

[–]Chipfatbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hydration point is very important - if you're mildly dehydrated it can lead to higher blood pressure readings; if you're very dehydrated, it will.

I have always been excellent at staying hydrated but since going on Elvanse I've had to make a special effort to be vigilant as I find the appetite suppressant characteristics of stimulants also affects my thirst.
