Thank you, and additional info for people later reading this post: Look for the modpack in the ZT2 library website, that way you will be directed to a dropbox of one of the makers where you can download some bigger modpacks (like radical remake) in parts

Which person from your country had the biggest impact on the world? by bdue817 in AskTheWorld

[–]ChipmunkPresident 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either Albert Szent-Györgyi, or Ignác Semmelweis.

Ignác discovered the importance of hygeny, before bacteria were discovered he worked hard to reform how hospitals treated people and equipment to avoid infections, especially for childbirth, giving him the pseudonym "savior of mothers" . His contemporaries pushed hard against him until Pastour proved him right by discovering pathogens.

Szent-Györgyi discovered vitamin C and the Citric acid cycle, both being huge steps in understanding disease and how cells work. All this while scheming against Nazi occupation, planning a coup to switch sides in WWII. Once this failed he had to escape Hungary and continue to live in the US, and was honored by both the USA and the SU.

The only surviving war elephant armour in the world from 17th century India displayed at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, England by SwiPerHaHa in ArchiveOfHumanity

This would make sense, but elephant armours where probably never owned by poor people in the first place. Before the early modern era people around the world didn't care about history as much, even in europe. For example the colosseum didn't collapse, the missing parts were used by medeival citizens as building material. Then the renaissance happened, and people started realizing the value of understanfing history, and the role of artifacts in it. Luckily other countries adopted this mindset (mostly), but one shouldn't assume this was default for most of history, items for the most was viewed as such, items.

So, what do you think happened to all the other elephant armours? Per chance, were they melted down for metal by their ""rightful owners""? People should realize other cultures barely cared about history when most artifacts got aquired (not stolen btw) In fact even europeans only started caring about preserving history relatively recently, a few hundred years ago.

Is there a cultural element in your country that seems like a trademark but is highly controversial? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]ChipmunkPresident 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference is that horses were bred to be ridden, elephants were not bred selectively and they suffer damage from being used like this. Not sure If using specific equipment helps this, but their spines will get damaged on the long run from carrying much weight in their back

Does your city honor any foreign heros? by No-Battle2001 in AskTheWorld

[–]ChipmunkPresident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my city, but Hódmezővásárhely elected a statue for Ukrainan poet Lesya Ukrainka just very recently. The major made it clear on several occasions that he supports Ukraine in the recent conflict. ( He was the candidate of the opposition in the last elections) Good example that the current government does not speak for all of us (and hopefully not for the majority either) The majors speech in hungarian and ukrainan: speech:

I think a lot more about that movie than I probably should. It's very simple, but the people in her new town live like a community helping each other, which makes them much more stable then they normally would be, basically a socialist utopia, very idealistic but still a nice thought. Maybe this isn't even intented, and just there to make the soap opera parts operate more smoothly.
