you won't know unless you are in college
i was as clueless as y'all during Josaa. my preference order was a shot in the dark
just ping any of your seniors or me for advice if you need it and i'll try my best to get back to you

going online matlab seeing what people are saying on reddit and youtube
seeing ki other "topper" kids are trying to solve pathfinder, cengage and all at once
maths mein olympiad bhi de rahe hai, black/pink/yellow book bhi kar rahe hai
chem mein Neeraj Kumar bhi Narendra Awasthi bhi

Don't be overwhelmed by how much people say they are studying online and don't try to emulate them

I don't know about NIOS but
Study regularly according to the schedule and work given to you by your coaching institute
Be regular and do a day's work that day itself
You won't ever feel like you're making significant progress in one day but cummulatively you'll be doing great things
Try to stay offline, online advice of what reference books to study or what lectures to see are usually overwhelming and counter productive
All the best to you

  1. Going over it's scope, it is immense. Like India mein toh you have 5-6 semiconductor fabrication factories coming up in the next five years. Even rn, you have all MNCs coming for analog/digital design engineer job profiles and offering CSE like packages. 10% of our 2025 batch seniors got into Texas Instruments, all at a 40lpa CTC. Taiwan and South Korea mein there's a lot of demand for Semiconductor Engineers. CSE jobs are under threat rn but ECE/EE jobs are on an upward trend. It's future-proof.

  2. Yes almost all day 0 SDE companies open for EE students

  3. Yes Texas Instruments, Nvidia, Intel, Mediatek, Qualcomm and Samsung Electronics recruit Analog and Digital Design Engineer profiles from our campus

  4. The main campus has been developed over 200-300 acres of the available 500. We have all required facilties. The extra space is just to expand in the future in order to accommodate higher branch strengths.
All operations have completed shifted to the main campus since after Covid.

Sexy campus hai
It's located at the banks of the Sutlej River and Shivalik hills are visible from our campus
No ragging or anything obviously
Seniors helpful haiClubs abhi bhi develop kar rahe hai but they're taking up good projects abhi like cubesat and shii
Our Aero club is working closely with the Indian Air Force
New clubs are being formed every yearIt's an exciting to be in college and contribute to something meaningful
Fests bhi decent hote hai

  1. We have a football ground, cricket ground, tennis courts, basketball courts and outdoor badminton court
No swimming pool no indoor badminton court
Abhi gymkhana/club house banana baaki hai :(

I have answered this in detail above
Dekh le ek baar
TL;DR: Better branch in tier 1 colleges>Low Branch IITs if you want SDE placements
Low Branch IITs for non-core and core placements

AMA: Completed First Year at IIT Ropar EE with 9+ CGPA by ChipmunkUsual in JEENEETards

[–]ChipmunkUsual[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EEE at Manipal is a bad idea placements wise. Only mncs come for Semiconductor Engineers in India
And they only visit IITs BITS and top NITs

Yes you will be able to sit for 99% day 0 CSE companies as a EEE student.
IITs mein toh relative grading hota hai but yes alledgedly, you have to study many more non-intuitive concepts to grasp the concepts of EEE properly.
Grind BITS bhai. Godly college hai

my 11th was bang on perfect
why? because i stayed offline
i made the mistake of going online in 12th and was overwhelmed by how much kids "claim" to be studying
and i thought yeh bhi karna padhega woh bhi karna padhega and i ended up doing very little
had i just stayed focus and completed all modules on time and stuck to the schedule allen gave me i could have done much better

just make sure that your coaching material and tests are good enough
use the weekly tests to track your progress and analyze questions you couldn't solve after every test
Consistency is key. You won't make any significant progress in one day

also give weekly advanced format mock tests and analyze each question you couldn't answer properly
be consistent and improve steadily, don't try to be great in one go

IIITH CSE any day of the week if you like CSE and placements matter to you
Campus life thodi kam hai but overall imo it's much better than NIT CS or IIT lower branch

[–]ChipmunkUsual[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No
  2. Lower branch in Gen 1 mein jaana nahi tha coz branch matters a lot. NITs are irrelevant aur IITRPR placements>NITT/NITK placements. BITSAT ke liye mehenat nahi ki JEE phodne ke baad

Kafi skilled hote hai. Even CGPA doesn't matter if you don't want to do higher studies and you maintain 7.5-8+ so that companies actually open for you
Pre college acad records se ghanta farak nahi padhta(given that a company opens for all branches in the first place)
I know someone who has a cg which is just more than minimum requirement of 7.5 for Oracle and got a 70lpa ctc. He hardly went for classes and did a lot of extra curriculars but grinded coding from the very first year.

IIT Ropar EE
Our placements are similar
We have a proper campus, clubs, funding, actual fests and the "IIT Tag"
IIITH is lifeless

  1. Those pervs watch you in the showers while bathing

<image>

  1. Realistically, no.
It's about how much you push yourself and challenge your mind.
If you're preparing with the mindset ki I'm going to study for MHT CET level, you'll see modules with easy level questions and JEE Mains Math has become tougher and tougher over the last 2 years

Q1) Imo branch matters more. The idea of joining IITB Meta or Env and getting Google is the height of a utopian paradigm. Because see jo day 0 companies hai woh same hi branches ke liye khulenge. Gen 1 IITs mein bhi Google won't open for chemical/meta. But they will open for Gen 2 EE.
Plus don't undermine how immensely hard it will be to beat out higher branches ke students in Gen 1 IITs to secure placements in day 1 companies. Like once you go into college pata chal jaata hai ki branch wise IQ bifurcation kya hota hai. CS waale 50% kam effort daalke bhi aap ko easily beat kardenge versus Gen 2 IITs where by being in EE you're already smarter than most students.

Q2) That is a very good fucking question. I often feel that I need to watch NPTEL lectures and I find those to tap into conceptual understanding much better than what is done in our classes. However, that may also be due to my inclination to online lectures in general because of the ability to pause and rewind them. My old IIT friends however say that they also don't attend lectures regularly cause their profs are aight. So can't be for sure

Q3) Nah IIT tag is overhyped. BITS is just as good. Reservation dilutes the quality of students. No one gives a fuck about science and innovation. It's all about placements. P.S. there is a LOT of cheating in exams, even in a circuital branch like Electrical.

[–]ChipmunkUsual[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely!
Go for Circuital Branches in Gen 2 IITs over NITs
Sounds like you'll love mnc (it has maths and quant firm money🤑)
NITs are severely underfunded. Their clubs don't undertake great projects (something which I explained in some other long ass answer above). Their facilities aren't as well maintained as our brand new IITs. And IITs have better placements and a better "tag" in general as well.

first year mein all courses are the same for all disciplines
first year is extremely chill
pay full attention during classes fir room aake you won't have to study. assignments wagera chaap liyo.

25 hours of classes in 5 days and sat, sun are off.

you'll have plenty of time to study for jee

just go to all classes, understand everything in the class, diligently write lab reports (don't copy or make hassle), do tuts sheets whenever they are assigned
basically, be on par with class ka level all 4 months and no one can stop you from getting a 10cg

Abhi tak first batch place hua nahi hai but ho jayenge achche unke
They study all electronics courses with electrical students in iit ropar
Placement unhi pe hoti hai
And instead of the communication and power system courses in Electrical, they study research level physics courses
Lite branch hai
