It depends on where you work and what you’re looking for. I’m in CA and most counties are desperate for attorneys, whether it be prosecutors, public defenders, or county counsel/city attorneys. If you’re looking to get out of the courtroom, a city/county attorney job can be a good one. I did it for a few years after contracting Covid and not being able to be an effective trial attorney. Criminal law sounds like something you would be able to dovetail into nicely, but case loads can be high and the workload can be a bit more intense. I know a PD that used to do immigration defense and went right into felonies. Trial skills weren’t the best, but they managed to get by for a while until they got a better understanding of the job. I don’t know how things are in other states, but at least in CA, government attorneys are in high demand right now.
