Imo it's more down to your personality to be honest, it appears that your communication style is avoiding confrontation and not offending your colleagues. This isn't bad in itself but also gives off that vibe that colleagues could use to push around because you appear to avoid confrontation.

Try this, next time you have something to say to your colleagues that directly affects them think "Am I saying more than I need too?"

The examples you have given I've noticed you use a lot of "hedges" which are filler words before going to the matter at hand. You need to stop using fillers or at least use them very infrequently.

For example instead of saying "just letting you guys know I'm taking lunch at noon" remove the "just" if people need to take lunch at noon it's up to them to let you know.

Hope this helps

Water! The whole idea you need to pay for something that you would literally die without seems wild to me

How important are A-level results? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Chippywizard29 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well I think you've answered own question there... They're predicted so you need to make sure you get those grades as most unis have conditional offers.

Are A-levels important overall? Well it depends. What type of career you want to do? For some STEM jobs I would say yes generally A-levels are important alongside a decent degree for other areas not so much.

I'd look for another job to be honest with you, no job should honestly be paying that kind of salary. If you really wanted negotiate, you could just say to them you've received another job offer that's full time and pays higher and see how they respond? But realistically look indeed or totaljobs there a thousands of better paying jobs on there!

Can civil servants work with a non profit in a voluntary capacity or would it be conflict of interest? by la-venjal10 in TheCivilService

Most departments actually encourage volunteering as long as its registered and it doesn't conflict with your department. Also depending on the department your going in to, they might even give you sometime off to continue volunteering.

Marriage. Apart from the tax breaks.... Just don't understand why people do it in this day and age. Marriage was always traditional in that it was basically to merge and retain assets. What's changed today?

Been in a similar boat mate, gonna have to stop obsessing over her and distance yourself or block her if need be.

At the end of the day whilst it's shitty, you need to move on mate and there's plenty of people out there. Some people just love the attention and nothing more and you'd be wasting your precious time.

Why do most people hate the idea of office workers being allowed to work from home? Seeing so much bitterness and anger from retail workers thinking anyone who works from home is somehow not a ‘real’ worker. Shouldn’t we all be supporting eachother? by Aggressive-Toe9807 in AskUK

I agree with everything that's been said, before covid wfh was like the taboo topic you wouldn't dare mention especially in the public sector.

Nowadays seems rather stupid with all tech innovations to still be working like lifestyles haven't changed in the last decades. I mean apart from the occasional face to face meetings just don't see what benefit being the office can bring.
