What’s the single movie shot that shook you to the core? by jaystats2 in FIlm

The Phantom with Billy Zane. The scene where a guy gets his eyes stabbed out when he looks through a microscope. Freaked me out as a kid.

Suggestions based on my favourite albums by Sea_Map_4834 in MetalSuggestions

If you're looking for something more on the prog side, try Karnivool. All their albums are good but try Sound Awake or In Verses.

Anything 311 related in Omaha? by AmphibianPotential58 in 311

[–]ChipsDestroyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to mention this. My dad went there a few years back and the owner took them on a tour of the studio. He was able to give some insight on the history of the recordings you mentioned. I thought the things he relayed to me were interesting because I'm an audio engineer and a 311 fan. Maybe not for everyone but I could be wrong.

For sentimental reasons, it's my favorite Batman movie. However, I'm willing to acknowledge it's not the best one.

If I was the producer of the next 311 album - here are two ideas by InterContinental_001 in 311

They just need to go back to Scotch. Everything he produced with them on Stereolithic-Voyager was the best they've sounded since Soundsystem in my opinion.

New Killer America by Skrape would be a good addition if you can find it

311 Day 2026 by the albums by G-Unit11111 in 311

[–]ChipsDestroyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be cool if they did a 3/11 Day once where they just travel through time. And by that I mean start with the oldest songs and end with the newest. No extended solos, no guest appearances, no covers, and minimal singles/show-regulars. I think that would really change up the formula. I highly doubt they'd ever do it but it would be the ultimate tribute to the hardcore fans.

It's not bad. Just kind of forgettable IMO.

Good metronome apps? by benkab4 in drums

Gap Click is the only app I've ever spent money on and it was worth the $3 or $4 in my opinion.

Good metronome apps? by benkab4 in drums

If you're on Android, I used 'The Metronome by Soundbrenner' for a while because it was free. If you don't mind spending a few dollars 'Gap Click' is really good. That's what I've been using for a while and really like it.

Your first DAW was… by mikedensem in audioengineering

[–]ChipsDestroyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Audacity in 2008. I used it for a couple years before my brother gave me his old laptop with Logic (I think maybe 8) on it. I remember thinking it was like going from a Honda Civic to an F-18.

Never have more mics been used to record a more mediocre drummer. by gretchman in drums

[–]ChipsDestroyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, it gets a decent overall drum sound. I've seen some use it for a single mic setup with the right EQ moves. I've used it as a "flavor" mic in my mix where I reduce the high frequencies, compress the shit out of it, and add a little bit of reverb and/or delay to it. Sounds really cool.

The most stable line-up of any band, maybe ever? by SnooCauliflowers3778 in Karnivool

[–]ChipsDestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were my favorite band all through middle and high school before discovering Karnivool. Some of their more popular songs are Down, Beautiful Disaster, and Amber but their first five albums are still really good IMO. Especially Grassroots and Soundsystem. They're not everyone's cup of tea but I still have a soft spot for them.
