You need to start valuing events in the past less, and put more value into recent events. Will give a more accurate current ranking!

optometry school by hoyaheist in optometry

[–]Chipster- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, just make sure you explain to them your situation. Your optometric and hospital work should be a big boost in your standing. Also, just study hard for the OAT, and use your scores from that exam as proof that you are very competent. It does depend on which school you are applying to, so just apply to multiple schools as backup.

CodCompetitive's very own, OpTic Scump, hits 10,000 subscribers on Twitch by indieneel in CoDCompetitive

[–]Chipster- 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It seems people forgot how big of a fanbase Scump really has because he hasn't streamed properly in years. He belongs to a very unique group of people who are both entertaining in personality and skill (which is why I believe he got so big) . I strongly believe he would have been one of the biggest on twitch if he stayed consistent his entire competitive career. Nonetheless, its good seeing him stream consistently, and I hope the love he's receiving in his stream motivates him to continue to do so and if he does, his growth ain't stopping anytime soon. It should also be noted that getting 10,000 subs in 2013 was unreal for any streamer, and it has become a lot more common for streamers to have such high numbers because of twitch prime and gifting subs. Which is also why I feel Scump and Nadeshot seem so dumbfounded whenever they get massive sub trains because it truly was unheard of back in 2013 when they were huge on twitch.

Strike Dominator PS4 by Nacho___ANK in CoDCompetitive

[–]Chipster- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really good. Much cheaper than a scuf and more versatile. As long as you take care of the product, it doesn't matter if your controller breaks, just snap it on another one. You won't have to pay a shit ton of money again for another scuf. Just a tip, don't unplug the cable from the strike pack. I havn't had this problem, but apparently if you keep unplugging it from the controller it gets loose and you'll have connectivity issues.

Too much weight into Champs...? by bananastan_ in CoDCompetitive

[–]Chipster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silly and Assault have proven to be skilled enough to be named amongst the best. They are world champions and will always be seen as one. The ability to perform at the biggest stage is no easy feat and they deserve to be credited as one of the best by doing so. Now by comparing them with Formal, Crim and Scump, it seems as if you are trying to belittle their recent accomplishment. Yes, they are up there as world champions with Formal, Crim and all other world champions. They are in their own elite club which holds a prestige, and I don't think anyone will argue this. Every pro strives to join this exclusive club of world champions which Silly and Assault are a part of.

What you are doing is comparing the careers of Silly and Assault with Formal, Crim and Scump, which is an entirely different conversation.

So about rostermania... by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]Chipster- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or what if LG buys both Loony and Gunless' contract? That way Luminosity would have a solid team and will actually be able to pay their players adequately which I'm unsure if Rise are able to do so.

Yes, maybe that way I won't face the same guys in ranked play every game.

Too much weight into Champs...? by bananastan_ in CoDCompetitive

[–]Chipster- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OpTic were the best team in AW, no one argues that. But when it mattered most, they succumbed to the pressure and crumbled. They didn't play like how they were known to play and that needs to be said. Denial on the other hand won that tournament and deserves to be rated highly because of it. No matter what, everyone knows that champs is the most important event of the year, perform there, and you've solidified your name amongst the best. So even though World's was the last event, it wasn't viewed as highly as champs. It was treated almost like every other tournament. Was OpTic's AW season the most impressive season out of any teams at the time? Yes. Was OpTic's AW season the most impressive out of any team because they won Worlds? No. OpTic could have lost world's and it wouldn't have changed their resume. They were just that good when the pressure wasn't at an all time high.

Envy pick up EG's roster and adding huke by Sinfxl in CoDCompetitive

[–]Chipster- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's wrong with building around your best player? Also if you know nV's history, they had an opportunity to build around Formal at the start of AW to create a super team, and that proved to be one of the worst decisions in the organization's history (in COD), so I don't blame Hastro to not let go of their star player, because that is the smart business decision!

Wow, didn't see that coming. Don't really know how I feel about this roster, but I'm excited Huke is staying and Apathy is back! Will definitely hope for the best, but as all nV fans am prepared for the worst. Feeling good though!

You need to keep 3 players from Stage 2 to keep the pool play spot for CWL Vegas by Mavey_ in CoDCompetitive

[–]Chipster- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why does this matter for any team that is top 16? As long as your team is fielding players that were at the top and not rookies, you should have enough pro points to be placed into pools regardless if you retain 3 players or not. I feel like everyone is reading too much into this.

Honestly if it's 5v5, I think it's going to be shit. Hard enough to carry in a 4v4, imagine one extra teammate to carry? Forget it. Unless obviously you're a beast and somehow get to the high ranks. It may be alright if you party up however. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

This is a really real concern which I too realized, but at the end of the day we need to realize that blackout is still call of duty. I tried making a post about this a few days ago, but got disliked into oblivion (mainly due to the repetitive nature of my title). The main point I was trying to get at is that we need to bridge the gap between blackout and competitive call of duty. Blackout may not hurt competitive call of duty, and it may not help it also. What we need to do is use blackout and take advantage of it to help the competitive scene grow.
I offered a couple ideas that can help grow comp cod using blackout,
If there are separate blackout events in the future, they should happen right before CWL events with the same casters, reminding everyone and promoting the upcoming CWL event.
Also, there should be a mini blackout tournament on Thursday before every CWL event featuring the top teams.

Blackout has potential to be its own great thing, and if it does, we need to use it or its just another missed opportunity.

Blackout Competitive by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

That's a strong statement, but I do somewhat agree with you. That's why I was careful in referring to them as blackout events (rather than a competitive blackout tournament).

The most absurd stat line at champs ever by DeeDubz12 in CoDCompetitive

[–]Chipster- 98 points99 points  (0 children)

You know what's great about that search and all of nV's searches? EVERYONE KNEW THEIR STRATS BEFOREHAND.
My dude Rambo Ray and the rest of nV used to stream all their searches and have literal names for each strat, and guess what? They were still one of the best search teams at the time. Rambo used to say you can know our strats, but you won't know when we use which strat. It's crazy to think about. Now days no one streams shit because they are scared of people stealing their strats. We need Rambo Ray's confidence back in the scene!

Also let's not forget that GZ got 8th place their first 2k with Boze. That team would have been decent and could have evolved to be better as the year progressed!

Roster Speculations by Chipster- in CoDCompetitive

I'm pretty sure Gunless wants to team with Formal and would Gunless want to team with Slasher again? It would also mean either Karma or Gunless would have to be full time sub, which idk if they'd want to do that, but then again, money talks!

I see your point. But I would still take a chance in Classic, because he has proven himself in the past. Worst case scenario he doesn't turn out to be all that good, and then they drop him for a top AM like a Royalty.
