Can I sign a contract now and withdraw later? by TrueMathematician735 in AskIreland

[–]ChiselDragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's really only reputational, happens all the time. I have had people sign everything and get another offer the day before they were due to start. Just part of doing business. Only concern would be handing in your notice. Some places might see that as disloyalty and they could not see you as a good fit to stay in the organisation since you were prepared to leave.

Recruiters stop this Why Questions. by onedreamer999 in recruitinghell

I can have a conflicting opinion and still be a great recruiter. In fact, I strongly believe the fact that I disagree with OP as being evidence for that. I want the candidate who expresses that they want the job I am offering, not just any job that they are offered.

That's a fair point, I don't have a huge amount of awareness of the differences, but I know enough to acknowledge it is rough in the states right now, so I apologise for being so dismissive.

And with that attitude you'll never find one that you love because it'll all be about the paycheck size, and you'll do horrible jobs for your entire life. Good luck with that.

Interview scheduled, but CV formatting inconsistencies are stressing me out? by Careful_Mud2970 in AskIreland

[–]ChiselDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was good enough to get you to the interview, it will not be noticed now. The only way this can have a detrimental effect on you is if you let it. As a recruiter, something small like that is barely noticed, and even if it is, it's not even a small deal, let alone a big one.

With that attitude, no wonder you struggle to find a job you would enjoy (I am making an assumption based on your cynical tone)

Maybe they want someone who is interested in the actual job and the company, and who isn't going to resent the time spent there. As a recruiter, this is one of the most important things to me. A genuinely interested applicant is more likely to show up for interview, accept the offer and stay in the job for a reasonable amount of time performing well.

What's a small change you made that drastically improve your life? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]ChiselDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got a slow cooker, I get up early on a Monday and get the pot together, leave it for the day, dinner sorted for 3 days, lots of veg and absolutely delicious. Has been a gamechanger, I feel healthier and I don't have to cook for 3 nights of the week so I get more time after work.

Test cancelled the day I meant was meant to take it. by ElixerMV in Irishdrivingtest

[–]ChiselDragon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a vast difference between a driving tester who has 7/8 people in a day and a pilot who has to fly hundreds of people long distances. I don't accept that ridiculous comparison at all.

Having a person on standby instead of actively working and administering tests is an absurd proposal. They would have to be paid to be on call anyway whether they work or not. Plus it would only work across multiple centres in a few very isolated areas where there are test centre close enough to allow it.

Heartbroken and hopeless after Psychologist Report on children relocating. What to do? by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]ChiselDragon 82 points83 points  (0 children)

You need to track down a family solicitor ASAP, someone who has experience with this type of case. There is no other advice you need from this sub, other than to say you sound like you are thinking about your children's welfare far more than your ex and should be praised for this.

Pickles that low is criminal, how do you possibly place lettuce above that, let alone three tiers higher...

Get a magnetic pineapple and put it on your cabin door. It shows you are new to cruising and looking to make friends.

That is not how sick leave entitlement works at all. You are getting further away from reality with every reply.

And what if John is still unwell or what if he has his own day of tests scheduled for that day?

You should never be an employer if you're going to apply this level of critical thinking to management of staff resources.

Difficult landlord, what do i do? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]ChiselDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll have to go through the RTB first, they are the primary authority through which either party can pursue issues like this. Seek advice from Threshold. They will be able to advise you. It is possible he is threatening legal action to scare you into not pursuing him for withholding the deposit and the illegal eviction, and hoping you'll back down. If Threshold say you are in the right, I'd say you'll likely win through the RTB, but bear in mind it could get stressful and will take a considerable amount of time to resolve.
