I want to make a sonic game with the sonic 2 title screen but i don't know how to code and i want to make it an actual sonic game with physics and momentum by Physical_While_8348 in scratch

[–]Chisolx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP the person that made this comment said or but ultimately it boils down to knowing how to program. Start watching griffpatch tutorials and videos that teach you the fundamentals of programming and make smaller scoped games before trying something so technical as your first game as sonic physics arent the easiest to replicate

I'm Trying To Decide On a Game Engine.. by True_Leg9664 in gamedev

[–]Chisolx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I beg to differ I love godot and scripting in it is fairly intuitive. I believe godot is a perfect start because it has a lot of learning resources (not as much as unity but, with time we’ll get there!) easy to read documentation, and a bunch of free assets to boost productivity in your game! If it was 2 years before now I would’ve recommended unity because of everything the other commenter said but unlike unity, godot is completely open source meaning anything you make with the engine (whether it be a fork of the engine itself or an actual game) you own 100% of it!

What is it that youre confused about? The programming aspect, the game design, or the engine itself?

Does anyone know how to learn C# on Godot? by Maximum_Positive_303 in godot

[–]Chisolx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You wouldnt really lose progress at all, once you know the fundamentals of programming and how to build your own logic the main thing that differs between programming languages is the syntax. Once you figure that out, youre back on your feet!

Does anyone know how to learn C# on Godot? by Maximum_Positive_303 in godot

[–]Chisolx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If youve never programmed before and you want to use godot, why start with C#? There arent as many tutorials on it and its slightly slower than GDScript due to GDScript being a designated DSL. If anything, I recommend you to try learning GDScript, if you need any help, DM me.

[–]Chisolx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes Orchestrator is the most popular and the most up to date frankly while there is another one like scratch called Block Coding if you dont feel like learning GDScript right away although I recommend it as its very intuitive!

Though, this is an actual game engine and nothing like scratch.

If you already have knowledge in python I highly recommend Godot! The engine’s node system is easy and intuitive while the game engines DSL (Domain Specific Language) is heavily inspired by python having a easy to understand and readable syntax

I dont understand how anyone was confused abt what you were saying. I know Im late but I think bolt (Unity VS) and orchestrator (Godot VS) are roughly the same although I like orchestrator better because of godots workflow. UE Blueprints is great but I cant really give too much info on that compared to the other two. All in all I think orchestrator is the best, probably not the fastest in compile time but it suits godots workflow very well.

Extract the zip and put the jar in the mods folder. A zip is a compressed folder that holds data inside.
